Marshall Bruce Mathers III (born October 17, 1972), known as Eminem, is an American rapper who has made some of the best songs in history. He has some very famous songs like the real slim shady, lose yourself, rap god, and Godzilla. He can rap so fast; he can rap 229 words in 30 seconds, or 7.5 per second. He has an ex-wife we’ll talk about later, and a daughter. Her name is Haley.
Haley and her adopted sister (technically her cousin by blood) lived with him and at the time his wife Kim. They lived in Detroit Michigan. Eminem also gained custody of his younger brother, Nate, and raised him in the same Michigan household, according to a 2004 Rolling stone interview. She had a pretty normal life but was somewhat surrounded by all the fame. She did go through some hard times growing up with her toxic mom and famous dad.
When Eminem was a baby, his dad abandoned him and his mom. His mom didn’t want Eminem and tried everything to get rid of him. Drugs, Alcohol, hurting herself, anything she could do. Unfortunately for her, she had a son that would prove her wrong. His life was full of negligence, mental abuse, and constant criticism. He had an uncle that he loved though. His name was Ronnie. Ronnie died when he was a teen and his mom told him she wished it was him. Eminem lived a harsh life, especially when living in a gang filled neighborhood in Detroit, he was bullied a lot. When he was a child, a bully named D'Angelo Bailey severely injured his head in an assault, an incident that Eminem later recounted on the song Brain damage.
Eminem was interested in storytelling, aspiring to be a comic-book artist before discovering hip-hop. When he had his first rap song Reckless, he got from the help of his Uncle Ronnie, His uncle was close to him and later became a musical mentor to him. When Ronnie committed suicide in 1991, Eminem stopped speaking publicly for days and did not attend his funeral. At age 14, Eminem began rapping with high-school friend Mike Ruby; they had the names "Manix" and "M&M", the latter evolving into "Eminem”. On Saturdays, they attended open mic contests at the Hip-Hop Shop on West 7 Mile Road, considered "ground zero" for the Detroit rap scene. Struggling to succeed in a predominantly black industry, Eminem was appreciated by underground hip-hop audiences.
When he was in high school, he met a women named Kim. She was his “high-school-sweetheart” who became his wife and a mother. But as they both grew, their relationship started to fall apart. Kim became very toxic and even cheated. Kim kissed a bouncer outside a club and Eminem assaulted him with an unloaded gun. He got arrested and went on probation. She also wouldn’t let Eminem see his daughter Haley and lead to Eminem dropping his songs 97 bonnie and Clyde, and Kim. When he released the song, Kim. Kim sued Eminem for 10 million dollars for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Kim did have substance abuse, and that lead to getting a divorce in 2006. Despite this history, the two eventually reconciled as friends. In his 2017 song Bad Husband which was an apology to Kim for his own mistakes in their toxic relationship. Today, they reportedly maintain a friendly relationship while co-parenting Haley and Laney.
In 1988, his name was MC Double M, and he formed his first group called New Jacks. He made demo tape recordings with DJ Butter Fingers later in 1989. They joined Bassmint Productions, who changed their name to Soul Intent in 1992 with the rapper Proof and other artists from Detroit. Eminem also made his first music video in 1992 with a song titled, "Do-Da-Dippity", by Champtown. Then in 1996, Eminem and Proof teamed up with four other rappers to form D12, and they made their debut extended play The Underground E.P in 1997 and their first album Devil’s Night. He also was in a different band called Outsidaz and joined forces.
In 2002, he was in a movie called 8 miles, “Lose yourself”, a song from the 8-mile soundtrack, topped the U.S. billboard top 100 chart within 12 weeks, the most for a solo rap song, and won an Oscar, Grammy, and MTV music awards, making him the first hip-hop person to ever win the award, he co-founded Shady records, which helped launch the careers of artists such as D12, 50 cent, and Obie trice, established the Sirius XM radio channel shade 45 and opened a restaurant, Mom’s spaghetti.
