I grew up in Austin, Texas, surrounded by many different expressions of art. I took my first printmaking class during my freshman year of high school and it has grown into full passion. I am continuing to further my creative passions in college and build stronger relationships within the greater Texas area. I attend the University of Houston and I am pursuing a degree in Retailing and Consumer Science. My goal for going after this degree is to help my clothing business, Rebirth Apparel grow into a sustaining career. Growing up, I felt a disconnect from my Mexican roots but I became more united with my heritage and culture during my journey through high school. Especially during my senior year of high school, I wanted to express the beauty and comfort I found in my roots by dedicating my AP 2D Design portfolio to Mexican roots and culture in Texas. Within the past couple of years, I have become more active in activism and some of my newer pieces express that. I want to continue to complete more pieces like those. My first time in an exhibit was at the MAS Cultura Fest in 2022, which featured my pieces “La Dama '' and “The Chicano Movement in Texas”. Those pieces were also featured in issue five of Bluekeys magazine, a small Austin publication. My piece “Familial Warmth” was a staff pick at the Mexic-arte Museum’s 2023 Mix n’ Mash event and was also featured on their promotional boards. Additionally, I had the pleasure of being the June 2023 Changarrito/featured artist at the Mexic-arte Museum. My work was exhibited at McLennon Pen Co. from May 12 to June 2, 2023. Lastly, four of my pieces were shown at Factory on 5th for Spektrum's event on May 20, 2023.
