Pregnancy and labor, whether it's your first or fifth time, is a mundane yet sacred experience that puts you closer to the space between life and death than people generally recognize in day-to-day life. These services include guidance through pregnancy and preparing for the labor of birth, then physical and emotional support during birth. We also provide some support during the immediate days after birth, including early processing of the birth experience, connecting to resources for postpartum and newborn needs, and providing a homemade lasagna (easily adaptable for dietary needs).
Once a child is born, it is often the first time a young couple or parent has a vital need for a Will, which is to decide who they'd like to care for the children in the event the parents can no longer do so, called designating guardianship. Either in preparation for birth or after the whirlwind of early postpartum, these services look like guiding through the options and creating appropriate end-of-life documents.
In the awful circumstance that a pregnancy ends or an infant dies, whether we were working together or not, we provide specialized support with navigating the intersection of the birth and death systems, which can be a small salve to a wound that will never fully heal. This support looks like sensitive companionship and guidance with the painful decisions that are required of bereaved parents, and early grief processing.
Pricing is done on a sliding scale that works out to roughly $50-90 per hour. Contact us for more information and we will put together a package of services unique to your family's needs.
