Welcome to the Belgrave Biophysics Lab at Harrisburg University

We are an interdisciplinary lab that investigates bacterial cell wall synthesis and aquatic environmental conditions and their influence on bacterial morphology, bacteria motility, antibiotic resistance and biofilm formation.

Our lab is focused predominantly on undergraduate research allowing students to work on STEM focused projects while learning laboratory techniques and presentation skills that would assist them in their post-graduate careers.

January 2023:
Ian Sabol joins Belgrave lab as an intern for Spring 2023 to study peptidoglycan in M. xanthus

August 2022:Alicia Browne is accepted to Boston University School of Medicine to complete her MPH in Epidemiology and Masters degree in Genetic Counseling.Parker Adams lands position at SGS Chemical Solutions as a Chemical Analyst.
Mike Lazar and Gabby Donahoe join the lab.
May 2022:
Morgan Olszewski and Mia Falcone join the lab.
May 2020:Parker Adams interns in our lab (Grant writing).
November 2019: Harrisburg University Presidential Research Grant funded to study the Effects of Bacterial Crosslink density on Bacterial shape, Motility and Antibiotic Susceptibility.
September 2019Erica Ward (HU Alumni, Biochemistry 2016) joins the lab as a Research Assistant. Erica spent two years at Penn State in the Postle Lab and 1.5 years as a Production Chemist at GI Supply.
March 2019: Karli Rathof receives grant from Pennsylvania Academy of Science (PAS) to fund her research through 2020 on how Acid - Mine drainage affects Aquatic Biofilms using an indoor Mesocosm.
February 2019: Micah Burton gets accepted to the Princeton University PhD program for Fall 2019
March 2018:Micah Burton receives honorary mention for his research at the Pennsylvania Academy of Science (PAS) Annual Meeting held at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
