Background History
Belau Modekngei School was founded in 1974 by the Modekngei Faith Leaders, the Janss Foundation, the School of the Pacific Inc., and Dr. William Vitarelli. The school is a private, non-profit institution, serving Grades 9th to 12th. Although under the direction of a body of Board of Directors, representing each state of the Republic of Palau, BMS is chartered and aligned under the Ministry of Education. The school curriculum is designed to teach students academic, vocational, and cultural knowledge and skills.
BMS is a residential school, where students live in dormitories while attending school. With Timetable (provided), students learn to live independently from parents, meeting the needs of daily responsibilities. The school staff provide guidance and safety measures along the way, while students will slowly gain the means of managing their daily lives and responsibilities productively.

Belau Modekngei School is located on the central, west coast of Babeldaob island in Ibobang Hamlet, in the state of Ngatpang.
