David J. Groth holds a Bachelors of Science in Education- Vocal Music from Northwest Missouri State University and a Master of Science in Education- Curriculum and Instruction from Peru State College. Although his degree is in vocal music, he also enjoys playing trombone and continues to perform professionally as a trombonist and vocalist. Teaching runs in his family. He has a twin sister that teaches at Lincoln Southwest High School, and his parents are both retired teachers. Groth's hobbies include cars, biking, climbing, computers, cooking, and working on his house. Before coming to Bellevue East, Groth taught one year at Riverside High School in Wathena, KS, three years at Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, MO, and nine years at Burke High School in Omaha, NE. At Burke, Groth revamped the show choir program, added a women's show choir, grew the varsity show choir, and added a show band. His choirs have earned numerous 1+ and 1 ratings and his show choirs have earned high placements. His choirs have been asked to perform with the Omaha Symphony three times. His concert choir was selected as a guest ensemble at Northwest Missouri State University. Under his music direction, Burke's musical was recognized as one of the top ten high school musicals in the state for the past six years by the NHSTA. He is also a sought-after clinician and judge. Groth is a winner of the 2019 Alice Buffett Outstanding Educator Award. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, The National Association for Music Education, The National Education Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. This is his second year at Bellevue East and fifteenth year of teaching. Go Chieftans!
Associate Director of Choirs

Carly G. Fox was born and raised in Omaha, NE and holds her Bachelor's in Music Education from the University of Nebraska — Lincoln. She has experience with a major emphasis in voice and bassoon. She was heavily involved throughout her undergraduate degree in the following ensembles: Big Red Singers*, Chamber Singers, Cornhusker Marching Band*, Symphonic Band*, Symphony Orchestra, University Chorale*, University Singers*, and Wind Ensemble. Ms. Fox also subbed for Millard and Elkhorn Public Schools to help the community during COVID-19. During college, she was the Assistant Director of Show Choirs at Russell Middle School, the Director of Collegiate Members for the Nebraska Music Education Association, and the President, Vice President, and Member-at-Large for the UNL Chapter of the National Association for Music Education. Her first year of teaching full-time was as the Vocal Music Teacher at Monroe Middle School in Omaha Public Schools; the Assistant Director of Show Choirs at Lewis Central Senior High. Ms. Fox has brought a newfound passion for music and performance to countless students while encouraging indepent thinking and social-emotional growth. Her hobbies include fashion, thrifting, baking, yoga, and travel. She is inspired by her mother and grandfather for showing her how great teaching can change the world.
