If you want a secure, sound-isolating in-ear solution for gaming and on-the-go monitoring, choose Behringer SD251-CL; if you need a semi-open over-ear design with a wide soundstage for mixing and long studio sessions, choose JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones.
• Behringer SD251-CL: Offers exceptional noise isolation and a secure, tangle-free fit ideal for mobile use, but lacks the open soundstage required for precise spatial mixing. Best for gamers and musicians who need portability and isolation.
• JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones: Delivers a natural, wide soundstage with high impedance drivers for accurate audio reproduction, though the semi-open design leaks sound and offers no wireless freedom. Best for home studio engineers and content creators prioritizing flat response.
• Who each pick is for: The Behringer suits those needing an IPX7-style waterproof durability and Bluetooth-ready flexibility (via adapter) for gaming or commuting, while the JOYO fits professionals requiring 3-meter cable reach and metal durability for stationary work.
The Behringer SD251-CL is engineered for the musician or gamer who needs to disappear into their audio without being distracted by the world around them. Its defining characteristic is the sound-isolating design, which physically blocks outside noise to deliver a detailed musical experience. This makes it an excellent companion for environments where focus is paramount, such as a busy household or a noisy commute. The secure, over-the-ear cable design ensures that the earphones stay put even during intense movement, preventing the frustration of losing your track mid-game or mid-mix.
For the specific use case of gaming, this model addresses a critical need: stability. Many standard earbuds fall out during active play, but the SD251-CL features an ultra-lightweight construction that keeps pressure off the head. It comes with three sets of ultra-soft earplugs, ensuring a perfect fitment for all ear shapes, which allows for extended sessions without the fatigue common with heavier headphones. The inclusion of a detachable cable with a 360-degree rotating gold-plated MMCX lock-snap connector adds versatility, allowing you to swap cables if one gets damaged or to adapt for different setups. While the unit itself is wired, the design anticipates future wireless freedom, as it is compatible with the Behringer BT251-BK Bluetooth adapter, effectively turning these into a high-quality wireless option when needed.

However, this product is not for everyone. If you are looking for a headphone that lets you hear your surroundings or creates a "live room" feeling where sound wraps around your ears, the SD251-CL will feel too closed-in. The sound-isolating nature is a double-edged sword; while it helps you focus, it also isolates you completely from ambient cues. Furthermore, if you require a built-in microphone for voice chat, you must check your specific inline remote controls, as the primary design focus here is pure audio fidelity rather than communication hardware. It is the right choice for the composer working late at night who needs to hear every nuance of a bass line without the hum of the refrigerator, or the gamer who wants to keep their music private and secure.
The JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones are built for the serious home studio enthusiast and the audio professional who demands accuracy above all else. Unlike consumer headphones that boost bass to make things sound "fun," the JMH-03 features custom-tuned 50mm drivers specifically designed for a flat, uncolored frequency response ranging from 15Hz to 28kHz. This flat response is crucial for mixing and mastering because it reveals the truth of the recording. You will hear exactly what is there—no muddy lows, no exaggerated highs—allowing you to make mixing decisions that translate well to other speakers. The semi-open acoustic design further enhances this by delivering a wider, more natural soundstage, letting you clearly perceive stereo positioning and reverb depth, which is essential for creating immersive mixes.
Comfort is another pillar of the JOYO design, tailored for users who wear headphones for hours at a time. The fully metal adjustable headband distributes weight evenly, paired with memory protein foam earpads that reduce ear pressure. The semi-open architecture helps prevent the heat buildup often associated with closed-back designs, making it comfortable for 3-4 hour editing or practice sessions. The build quality is robust, featuring a metal enclosure and a durable Y-shaped cable that connects to both earcups. This 3-meter cable provides significant freedom of movement around a studio desk or stage, ensuring you aren't tethered to your computer or interface. The dual-sided detachable cables and included 6.35mm adapter mean universal compatibility with almost any audio gear, from digital pianos and guitar amps to professional mixers.
That said, this product has clear limitations that disqualify it for certain users. The semi-open design means there is no sound isolation; sound leaks out, and external noise leaks in. This makes them unsuitable for recording vocals in a non-treated room or for use in loud environments like a live gig where feedback might be an issue. They also lack a built-in microphone, Bluetooth, or active noise cancellation, so they are strictly wired tools for listening and monitoring. If you are looking for an ipx7 waterproof bluetooth headset for gaming or something that works wirelessly with your phone, this is not the device. It is a specialized tool for the producer who sits in a quiet room and needs to trust every decibel they hear.

I would buy the JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones if my primary goal was creating music or editing audio content in a controlled environment. The 55-ohm impedance and semi-open design offer a level of transparency and soundstage that the Behringer simply cannot match, making it the superior choice for anyone who needs to hear the truth in their mix. However, I would recommend the Behringer SD251-CL for the specific scenario of gaming or mobile use. In that context, the ability to isolate noise and the secure, lightweight fit are far more valuable than a wide soundstage. If you are looking for a dedicated gaming accessory that feels like a professional monitor but stays on your head securely, the Behringer is the practical winner. Ultimately, choose the JOYO for your studio desk and the Behringer for your gaming chair.
The Behringer SD251-CL is better suited for gaming due to its secure fit and noise isolation, though you should verify the inline remote supports your specific voice chat needs. The JOYO model has no built-in microphone and is not designed for communication.
The Behringer SD251-CL features a secure, over-the-ear design and includes a zipper case, making it durable for active use, though you must confirm its specific water resistance rating before exposure to heavy moisture. The JOYO headphones are wired studio monitors with no water resistance.
Yes, the JOYO headphones have a 55-ohm high impedance which works best with audio interfaces, mixers, or dedicated headphone amplifiers to drive them properly. They may sound quieter on standard phones or computers without sufficient power.
For a beginner focused on learning to mix, the JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones provide the necessary flat response to train your ears correctly. The Behringer is better for casual listening or gaming but lacks the open soundstage needed for accurate production training.
