If you want a dedicated, high-end audio interface with VCA control and USB connectivity for complex studio setups, choose Behringer MONITOR2USB; if you need a rugged, all-in-one personal monitor station that includes a microphone input and bundled headphones for live or stage monitoring, choose ROLLS PM351.
• Behringer MONITOR2USB: Offers a premium, software-compatible audio interface with precise VCA control and a sleek design, but it requires an external power source and lacks built-in microphone inputs. It is best for producers needing a clean USB hub for multiple channels.
• ROLLS PM351: Delivers a rugged, wall-mountable solution with independent volume controls for mic, instrument, and line signals, plus included closed-back headphones, but it does not function as a standalone USB audio interface. It is ideal for drummers and vocalists who need on-stage self-monitoring.
• For the swimmer: Neither of these devices is designed for use in water; while some might look for headband headphones for swimming or a wireless headset for swimming, these are professional audio tools, not aquatic gear. If you are specifically looking for best gaming headphones for swimming, you will need to look elsewhere entirely.
The Behringer MONITOR2USB is built for the environment where precision matters most: the recording studio or a high-fidelity home setup. Its core identity revolves around being a high-end speaker and headphone monitoring controller that integrates seamlessly with your digital audio workstation via USB. This isn't just a passive splitter; it is an active audio interface capable of handling up to 12 channels of audio. The inclusion of VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier) control sets it apart from simpler mixer controllers, allowing for more dynamic management of signal levels without compromising the audio path.
When you look at the physical footprint, this unit is substantial. With dimensions hovering around 5.47 inches deep by 9.57 inches wide and 5.47 inches high, it is designed to sit securely on a desk or rack. It weighs approximately 3.3 pounds, which suggests a build quality that prioritizes stability over portability. You aren't likely to carry this into a dive shop or a pool deck; this is a stationary piece of equipment meant to be the central nervous system of your monitoring chain. The package dimensions indicate a fairly large box, reinforcing that this is a serious piece of hardware rather than a compact gadget.
This device is explicitly compatible with generic DAW software on Windows, supporting a maximum sample rate of 48 KHz. This makes it a perfect companion for musicians and engineers who need to route their audio cleanly through a computer while maintaining the ability to switch between speakers and headphones instantly. The "Premium" designation in its description is earned through its focus on audio fidelity and control flexibility. However, because it relies on USB connectivity and operates at specific voltage levels, it demands a stable power environment. It is not a battery-operated field recorder, nor is it designed to handle the rigors of a wet environment. If you are looking for something to wear while moving through water, this is not the tool for the job.

In stark contrast to the digital-heavy approach of the Behringer, the ROLLS PM351 is a utility beast designed for the grit of live performance and practical studio work. Its primary function is to serve as a personal monitor station that empowers musicians to control their own mix. Unlike the Behringer, which focuses on routing through a computer, the PM351 focuses on immediate, analog-style control over three distinct signal sources: a microphone, an instrument, and a line-level input. This triad of inputs is managed via independent level controls on the front panel, giving the user total autonomy over what they hear without needing to shout to a sound engineer.
The build quality here is defined by its enclosure materials, which combine metal and plastic to create a durable chassis. The product information notes that it is not waterproof and has no water resistance level, meaning it is strictly for dry environments like stages, rehearsal rooms, or studios. The unit is also designed for wall mounting, a feature that speaks directly to its intended use case where floor space is limited or clutter needs to be minimized. It comes with a set of Polsen HPC-A30 Closed-Back Studio Monitor Headphones, which feature 50mm drivers and a frequency response ranging from 18Hz to 22kHz. This ensures that the audio reproduction is accurate enough for critical listening, even in noisy environments.
One of the most telling aspects of the PM351 is its popularity among drummers. Drummers often need to monitor a click track while playing loudly, and the PM351's ability to blend a line signal (the click) with other instruments or vocals makes it a staple in that niche. The inclusion of an XLR microphone input and a 1/4" phone line/instrument input covers the vast majority of acoustic and electric setups. The output options, including a 1/4" phone out and XLR thru, allow the signal to be sent back to the main mixer or recording device. It is a corded electric device, meaning it draws power from a standard outlet and does not rely on internal batteries, ensuring consistent performance during long sessions. However, like the Behringer, it is absolutely not suitable for swimming or any activity involving water exposure.
• Best for digital integration → Behringer MONITOR2USB, as it connects directly via USB and supports generic DAW software with multi-channel routing capabilities.
• Best for live stage monitoring → ROLLS PM351, due to its rugged construction, wall-mount capability, and dedicated inputs for mics and instruments without requiring a computer.
• Best for vocalists → ROLLS PM351, which provides a dedicated XLR microphone input with independent volume control right at the musician's fingertips.
• Best for studio production → Behringer MONITOR2USB, offering VCA control and a higher channel count (12 channels) for complex mixing scenarios.
• Best for drummers → ROLLS PM351, widely recognized for its ability to handle click tracks and loud environments effectively.
• Best for portability (desk to desk) → Behringer MONITOR2USB, though both are stationary units, the Behringer's USB nature allows for easier reconfiguration in different studio setups.
• Best for included accessories → ROLLS PM351, as the package includes the Polsen HPC-A30 headphones, whereas the Behringer is sold as a standalone controller.
• Best for durability → ROLLS PM351, featuring a metal and plastic enclosure designed for the rigors of touring and daily gigging.
I would buy the ROLLS PM351 if my goal was to have a reliable, ready-to-go monitoring station for live performance or practice, especially since it includes the headphones and handles microphones natively. However, I would strictly avoid both of these products if I were trying to find a solution for swimming. Whether you are searching for headband headphones for swimming, a wireless headset for swimming, or even best gaming headphones for swimming, neither of these devices fits the bill. They are dry-land, professional audio tools. If your priority is getting into the water, you need to look for specialized aquatic gear that is truly waterproof, as these units are not water-resistant. But for the studio or stage, the ROLLS PM351 offers a more complete, immediate experience with its bundled headphones and robust input options.
No, neither the Behringer MONITOR2USB nor the ROLLS PM351 is waterproof.
Yes, the ROLLS PM351 package includes Polsen HPC-A30 Closed-Back Studio Monitor Headphones. The Behringer MONITOR2USB does not include headphones; it is a controller and interface unit that requires you to provide your own monitoring equipment.
Absolutely not. These are professional audio interfaces and monitor stations designed for dry environments like studios and stages. They cannot be used as headband headphones for swimming or as a wireless headset for swimming.
The ROLLS PM351 is the superior choice for drummers. It features a rugged design, wall-mount capability, and specific inputs for blending click tracks (line level) with other signals, making it a popular choice in that specific role.
