If you want a dedicated monitoring hub that manages multiple audio sources with professional-grade control for a home studio, choose Behringer MONITOR2USB; if you need high-fidelity, semi-open over-ear headphones designed specifically for critical mixing and long listening sessions, choose JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones. These two products solve completely different problems for the same ecosystem of music lovers, yet they are often compared by buyers looking to upgrade their audio setup. The decision comes down to whether your primary bottleneck is the interface controlling your speakers and cans, or the actual earpieces themselves delivering the sound. For parents searching for with mic over ear headphones for children, neither of these specific models is the ideal tool, as both are engineered for serious adult audio production rather than kid-friendly durability or communication features. However, understanding their distinct strengths helps clarify exactly what role each plays in a complete audio chain.
• Behringer MONITOR2USB: Its greatest strength is acting as a central command center for USB audio with VCA control and a 12-channel interface, but its trade-off is that it is a desktop box requiring external power and cables, not a wearable device.
• JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones: Their biggest asset is the semi-open acoustic design with 50mm drivers providing a wide soundstage for accurate mixing, but the trade-off is that they lack a built-in microphone and cannot be used wirelessly.
• Who should buy the Behringer: Audio engineers, producers, and musicians who need to route signals between computers, mixers, and multiple headphone outputs without losing signal quality.
• Who should buy the JOYO: Mixing engineers, podcasters, and guitarists who require flat frequency response and comfort during hours of editing or practice sessions.
The Behringer MONITOR2USB is not a pair of headphones; it is a premium speaker and headphones monitoring controller designed to sit on your desk and manage the flow of audio in your studio. This unit functions as a comprehensive USB audio interface that allows you to connect directly to your computer via USB, supporting generic DAW software on Windows operating systems. It handles up to 48 KHz sample rates and offers 12 channels of connectivity, making it a robust solution for anyone running complex routing scenarios where a simple cable won't cut it.

What makes this device stand out is the inclusion of VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier) control. This technology provides precise volume management for both your main speakers and your headphones simultaneously, ensuring that switching between monitors doesn't result in sudden, damaging spikes in volume. The physical footprint of the unit is substantial, measuring roughly 5.47 inches deep, 9.57 inches wide, and 5.47 inches high, with a total package weight around 3.3 pounds. It is built to be a permanent fixture on a studio rack or desk, offering a level of control that portable devices simply cannot match.
This product is ideal for the producer who needs to monitor audio from multiple sources without constantly plugging and unplugging cables. If your workflow involves switching between live instrument inputs, digital tracks, and external processors, this controller streamlines the process. However, if you are looking for something portable or a simple pair of earbuds to wear while commuting, this is not the right tool. It is a stationary piece of gear designed for the person who treats their audio setup like a mission-critical workspace.
In contrast to the Behringer controller, the JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones are designed to be worn on your head for extended periods of critical listening. These wired, semi-open over-ear headphones feature custom-tuned 50mm drivers that deliver a flat frequency response ranging from 15Hz to 28kHz. Unlike many consumer headphones that boost bass or treble to sound "fun," these are tuned for precision. They handle up to 1,600mW of power without distortion, ensuring that even the most dynamic recordings remain clear and uncolored.
The defining feature here is the semi-open acoustic design. While closed-back headphones offer isolation, they can sometimes feel claustrophobic and narrow the perceived soundstage. The JOYO JMH-03 model uses a semi-open architecture to create a wider, more natural soundstage. This allows you to clearly perceive stereo positioning, reverb depth, and frequency balance, which is essential for making accurate mixing decisions. The earcups are lined with memory protein foam and supported by a fully metal adjustable headband, distributing pressure evenly to keep you comfortable through three to four hours of continuous use.
These headphones are perfect for the mixing engineer, the guitarist, or the podcaster who needs to hear every nuance of a track. The 55-ohm impedance means they require a decent amount of drive, working best when connected to an audio interface, mixer, or guitar amp rather than a low-power smartphone jack. They come with a detachable 3-meter Y-shaped cable and a 6.35mm adapter, giving you freedom of movement around the studio. However, because of the open design, sound leakage occurs, meaning they are not suitable for recording vocals in a non-isolated room. They are also strictly wired, with no Bluetooth or active noise cancellation, focusing entirely on audio fidelity over convenience.
• Best for multi-source routing → Behringer MONITOR2USB: If you need to manage 12 channels and switch between speakers and headphones seamlessly, this is the only choice.
• Best for flat frequency accuracy → JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones: If your goal is to hear the raw, uncolored truth of your mix with a wide soundstage, the JOYOs are superior.
• Best for long-duration comfort → JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones: The metal headband and memory foam make them better suited for marathon mixing sessions than a desktop box.
• Best for vocal tracking isolation → Neither: Both products have limitations here; the Behringer is just a controller, and the JOYOs leak sound due to their semi-open design.
• Best for portability → Neither: The Behringer is a heavy desktop unit, and the JOYOs are wired, so neither is ideal for mobile use.
• Best for driving high-impedance loads → JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones: The 55-ohm design ensures precise driver control when paired with proper amplification.
• Best for studio integration → Behringer MONITOR2USB: Its USB connectivity and VCA controls make it a core component of a digital audio workstation setup.
• Best for value in pure audio quality → JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones: For the cost of a single accessory, you get professional-grade drivers and build quality that rivals much pricier brands.
I would personally choose the JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones if my priority was improving the actual sound I hear while working on music. The semi-open design and flat frequency response address the core need of any audio professional: hearing the truth. While the Behringer MONITOR2USB is a fantastic piece of hardware for managing signals, it is an add-on to a system, whereas the headphones are the final destination for that audio. For parents specifically asking about best extra bass true wireless earbuds for children or similar kid-focused gear, neither of these products fits that niche, as they are serious tools for adults. If you are building a home studio from scratch, start with the headphones to ensure your ears are calibrated correctly, then consider the Behringer if you find yourself needing more advanced signal routing capabilities later.
No, neither product is suitable for gaming chat. The JOYO headphones lack a built-in microphone, and the Behringer is a desktop controller, not a headset. You would need separate equipment for voice communication.
Because the JOYO Studio Monitor Headphones have a 55-ohm impedance, they benefit significantly from being connected to an audio interface, mixer, or dedicated headphone amplifier to reach full volume and clarity, though they will work with standard 3.5mm outputs at lower volumes.
The Behringer relies on a USB connection to function as an audio interface and requires compatible DAW software on Windows to operate as described. It is not a standalone battery-powered player.
The JOYO headphones feature a metal adjustable headband and soft memory foam earpads designed to distribute pressure, making them generally more comfortable for extended wear and larger head sizes compared to standard consumer gear.
