Installing the First Research-Grade Weather Station at TSU Ashland Research Farm

Installation through the collaborative efforts of Dr. Behnaz Molaei, Graduate Research Assistant Bikalpa Lamichhane, and Freshman Undergraduate Research Assistant Izabella Douglas in Jully 2024. We received support from Mr. Lynn for concrete foundation construction and tower installation. Abhisek Gupta joined the team in August 2024, and the installation was completed with the addition of the rain gauge. Website development is under progress to make the weather data visible to everyone.

June 2025 (Before Development)

Conducted irrigation of research plots using city water supplied at only 15 psi pressure at the research plots, and two impact sprinklers, which were the only irrigation resources available to researchers at the time.

September 2025 (After Development)

Upgraded irrigation systems at TSU farms by resolving issues with the river pump, providing 80 psi water pressure at the field water source, and designing and installing a sprinkler irrigation system for the winter canola research plots.
