Welcome to the Behavior workgroup seminar organized by Liza Charroin and Margherita Comola.
The seminar takes place each month on Fridays from 11 am to 12 pm at the Maison des Sciences Economiques.
The “Behavior Workgroup” seminar provides a regular and friendly setting where members can present their experimental designs before testing them in the laboratory (for example, at LEEP) and discuss their experimental results before submitting them to a scientific journal.

Title: Buying Impunity: Compliance and Social Backlash under Unequal Enforcement
Abstract: This project investigates whether individuals’ ability to buy impunity from formal sanctions increases their free-riding, prompts informal punishment from other players, and whether anticipating that punishment deters wrongdoing in the first place. I study a minimum-contribution Public Goods Game with sanctions, in which one participant can pay for immunity, and peer punishment is introduced in the second half of the experiment. The design varies whether the impunity option is available, to isolate its effect on compliance, and whether peer punishment is announced from the outset or only once it begins, to test its deterrent effect.
