Welcome!

Class will begin online August 31, 2020

Due to COVID-19, our class will be online until it is safe for us to return to the school building. Online "virtual" learning is fun and flexible!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • You will receive an email with a ZOOM meeting invitation to class

  • ZOOM is free and available on your computer, tablet or cell phone

  • Our first mandatory ZOOM meeting will be on August 31st from 10:30-11:30 am

  • If you are unable to attend the first ZOOM meeting you will be able to watch a recording of the meeting on September 1, 2020 on our Google Classroom website

  • Class meetings will be 45 minutes on ZOOM

WHEN: Weekly Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday beginning 8/31/2020 (except holidays)

TIME: 11:00-11:45 am

  • You will have independent work that you will be able to complete day or night

  • Attendance is Important! Earn attendance credit by participating in ZOOM meetings and completing assignments online

Curriculum: What will we be learning?

We will be using a new program called "Futures." You will receive a new textbook and online lessons.

  • Technology skills for online education

  • Civics units that teach life skills (health, employment, government, banking, housing, transportation)

  • Academic vocabulary

  • Conversational language/speaking skills

  • Reading Comprehension skills

  • Participation in short conversations

  • Writing simple sentences in paragraph form

  • Basic pronunciation rules

  • Grammar

  • Creating and giving short presentations

Google Classroom

You will be a member of our Google Classroom. A password will be emailed to you.

You will use the Google Classroom to watch recorded lessons, communicate with the class, and complete assignments
