Students are responsible to bring all books and sheet music (if assigned) to the lesson.
Students are responsible for having a ring notebook preferably. (A Composition notebook will do as well.)
Students are responsible for either having a folder of ring binder to place their sheet music in. (Sheet music gets very damaged very easily)
Students should also have a bag to transport their books and music. (Optional although high recommend makes life a lot easier and less chance of forgetting things.
There are no group lessons I believe private lessons are the best way to reach the student and progress their knowledge.
Currently any of the above mentioned activities are not implemented. I hope in the near future as we continue to grow as a community you are able to showcase your talents in the same way I have. That being said when the time comes it takes a lot of work and preparation to host those events. I ask all of you to give me time and have a little patience. You are my students and I believe it is possible but I am also a full time high school student and partaking in dual enrollment at Coastal Carolina Community College. So give me the time and I will give you the results!
Please notify me thru any form of communication listed on the website, or information packet handed to you that you will be missing your lesson. Notification within 24hrs will allow me to replan the rest of my schedule. In doing so I can then find a chance to reschedule your lesson or apply the credit to your next billing date. I understand life is fully of unknowns and that is completely fine. Being sick is a form of unknowns especially during a time after what we just faced. So feel free to contact me and notify me of what happened.
If you cannot notify me within 24hrs that you will be missing your lesson then notify me as soon as possible. Due to the late notice there is little I can do with rescheduling. Your credit will be moved to your next billing date.
If you do not notify me within 5 hours of your appointment or not at all no credit or no rescheduling will occur. (Plain and simple I have a life too and though you are my students give me some credit.)
Please note for all of these incidents still contact me depending on the situation we can work something out. I'd hate for you to miss a lesson but unforeseen accidents happen
You must own an acoustic piano or a full-length digital piano (with the soft and damper pedals included).
Make sure your piano is in good working condition. All keys and pedals work. Tuned (at least once a year or at minimum once every two years).
Electric Keyboards are a good practicing tool and are not true pianos.
Find a place to practice that suites you and has the privacy you need from outside distractions (just like doing homework or work the less distractions the better.) For families with more than one child and the child is the student make sure his/her siblings are not interrupting the practice. Practice times very but always having a timer next to you is important.
Students no matter of level should practice five days a week for at least 20 minutes.
Beginners and Level 1 Students should be able to finish their work about 15 minutes.
Level 2-3 should spend 20 minutes practicing
Level 4 and above should spend somewhere from 30-60 minutes a day.
Practicing daily helps you increase you knowledge and skill. Not practicing only makes your progress halt. So please practice, practice, practice.
Practicing times may vary depending on amount of work given and what level so these are base figure I will provide you with more information in the actually lesson.Â
