The mission of Nicholas J. Begich Middle School is to ensure that every student has the skills to build a strong social and academic foundation. This mission is accomplished by providing a rigorous, standards-based curriculum that meets individual needs and is delivered in a safe environment by a dedicated, nurturing staff. Our educational setting provides strong supports for young adults in the area of Social Emotional Learning, including behavioral skill development, so students feel safe at our school. • We do not climb the ladder. We stay calm with students, take small progressive discipline steps, find ways to get support or take breaks
• Many of our students have or are experiencing trauma in their lives outside of school; we want to teach and interact with students in a manner that is trauma informed
