A Sangoma is a traditional healer or diviner of the Zulu, Xhosa, and Ndebele people in South Africa. Sangomas are believed to have the ability to communicate with the ancestors and spirits, and they use this ability to offer healing and advice to their clients.
Sangomas often undergo a period of training and initiation, which involves apprenticeship under an experienced Sangoma, learning about traditional healing methods and the use of herbs and divination tools such as bones or throwing stones.
