Q: How much does it cost to be a vendor?
A: It varies depending on the market and the space you are applying for. Please see the application forms for each market by following the menu above. Note: Vendor fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable and are accepted by e-transfer.
Q: How do I find out if I have been selected as a vendor or not?
A: You will receive notification by email within approximately one-two weeks of applying to find out if you have been selected or not. Be sure to check your junk or spam folder. If you aren't selected, do not be discouraged. We have limited space available and curate accordingly. You can continue to apply for future events.
Q: How do you select vendors?
A: We aim to curate a variety of vendors for each market. We avoid direct duplication of products whenever possible, though some overlap is often inevitable. We also try to balance returning and new vendors who will appeal to our customer base. We do not accept wholesale product resellers, vintage or used good sellers, drugs or alcoholic products, products related to drugs or adult themes, tarot card readers or spiritual services. Preference is given to makers and artisans but we do accept direct sellers.
Q: Can I apply and sell products from multiple categories?
A: You can apply to sell products from multiple categories (i.e. sewn crafts, jewelry...) but you are more likely to be accepted as a vendor if you sell products from one category. We avoid overlap of products whenever possible, though some overlap is often inevitable.
Q: Can I share a table with another vendor?
A: No.
Q: Can I book more than one table?
A: No.
Q: Are tables and chairs provided for vendors?
A: Yes, each vendor will be provided with up to 2 chairs and a 6ft. folding table. There are some 50" tables available for those who want to bring a small floor rack. Note: very few tables are along a wall. Most are away from the wall, back onto a stage, etc. There are 4 "prime location" tables that back against the wall between the two market rooms and a chair is beside them, not behind them. Please indicate on your application form if you have a particular preference. There may be an additional charge for specific locations.
Q: I need more space than a 6 ft. table, can that be accommodated?
A: Maybe. We have limited spaces available for those who would like a 6ft. table and additional space for a rack. This should be indicated on your application form. There will be an additional charge for these spaces.
Q: I need electricity, can that be accommodated?
A: Maybe. We have limited spaces available for those who would like electrical outlet access. This should be indicated on your application form. There will be an additional charge for these spaces.
Q: I am under 19 years of age, can I be a vendor?
A: Yes; however, anyone under 19 years of age must have a parent/guardian complete the application form on their behalf and have an adult attend the event with them.
Q: Do I need insurance?
A: Yes; as a vendor you are responsible for your own insurance. Our event insurance does not cover individual vendors.
Q: I am a food vendor, is there anything special I need to do?
A: Yes, anyone who is a food vendor is required to have a valid Food Handlers Certificate. You are responsible to keep this certificate updated. You must also have the appropriate food permits required by the NS Environment and Climate Change Department. You are responsible for ensuring that you are following all regulations and guidelines and are subject to any fines you may incur. See: https://novascotia.ca/nse/food-protection/docs/publicmarketguide.pdf for more information.
Q: I sell bath and body products, is there anything special I need to do?
A: Yes, you must have proper labelling and have completed Cosmetic Notification forms for each product as per Health Canada Guidelines. You should be prepared to produce your documentation upon request.
Q: I am applying to the waiting list or have been put on the waiting list. What does that mean?
A: We have a limited number of tables available. As a result, many who apply may be added to our waiting list. Once we have fully booked our tables, all other applications are being made to the waiting list. If you are on the waiting list, you could potentially be contacted if a booked vendor, who sells the same category of products as you, cancels their table. We would reach out via email or telephone to see if you are still interested and available to attend.
