About the Founder

My name is Lexi Nakada and I am the proud owner and founder of Beauty Spell Hawaii.  I have been in the beauty industry since 2012 and am a M.A.C cosmetics certified Advanced Makeup Artist. 

I grew up in a small, remote town in China.  However, from a young age, I knew I wasn’t just a typical country girl.  Looking back, I’ve always had a consciousness about fashion and beauty. I have so many memories of me, as a kid, altering clothes, curling hair with hot bamboo sticks, making beauty products out of plants or designing clothes and handbags, etc, using whatever resources were available to display my creativity.

As I grew up, I decided to put my passion for fashion and beauty aside in search of a career in medicine.  After graduating from medical school, I interned at an OBGYN Ward for 5 months and, later, worked as an assistant at a plastic surgery clinic.  Working at the plastic surgery clinic finally met my fantasy! In my position, I was able to combine my education in medicine with my passion for beauty to help women achieve their ideal image and boost their confidence.  However, as goes with the adventures of life, there are always twists and turns until our paths are fulfilled.

After moving to Hawaii, my Chinese credentials in medicine could not transfer to America, and I required another 10 years of school to get licensed.  I decided to move away from medicine and to dedicate my time to pursuing my very first true love — beauty and fashion. I was actually excited for this new start!   And I haven’t looked back.  

After overseeing numerous surgeries at the plastic surgery clinic, I realized that not all women should have to undergo a painful and expensive surgery to unlock the beauty within themselves. I studied, learned, and trained rigorously with multiple companies, professional stylists and updo specialists; worked as an intern and freelanced for others.  This unstoppable passion quickly turned into an obsession, which manifested itself into my own business, Beauty Spell Hawaii. 

With Beauty Spell Hawaii, I was finally able to achieve my mission of transforming women from the inside and out.  As a certified makeup artist, dance teacher, and experienced beauty consultant/stylist, I am able to empower my clients by enhancing their outer beauty so they have the confidence to display their shining beauty from within.  I have been living my dream ever since. I am a perfectionist and will always strive to be progressive and imaginative, and I am most grateful to all my beauties for the opportunities for giving me such a “high” in life.
