Born in Cambridge, UK, 1998

Portuguese artist living and working in London.

Working as a primary school art teacher and technician.

Beatriz Moreira da Silva’s work navigates and materialises her research into the hierarchies of information: how can histories be written, shared and accessed. In artworks and process, she create sites of learning, for the artist in its creation and for the viewer through their interaction, that rethink a traditional idea of how histories can be taught. The intention not being to teach, but rather to explore alternative methods of publishing. Through reenactments, Moreira da Silva focuses on the home, play, and community’s role in the act of remembering and sharing. Using her own familial archive, allegorical objects are created as archival documents that test the capacities of archiving in translations and aura.
