After a period as a Research Associate at ICAM-FORTH in Crete, I moved to the UK as a Marie Curie Fellow at Imperial College London (1997-1999)
I was a Lecturer (2000), then Reader (2005), then Professor (2012) at the University of Reading. I was also Head of the Department of Mathematics there from 2012 to 2014
I am currently Professor at Heriot-Watt University, since 2016. I was Head of the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt from 2016 until 2022
I was the Olga Taussky-Todd prize lecturer at the International Congress of Applied and Industrial Mathematics in 2011, and the Mary Cartwright Lecturer of the London Mathematical Society for 2019. I was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2020
I am very committed to fairness and equality of opportunities and have served on the Council and as Chair of the Women in Maths (WiM) Committee of the London Mathematical Society. I have also served on the WiM committee (2015-16) and as vice-President of the European Mathematical Society (2016-24)
I am also deputy Director of the International Centre for the Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) in Edinburgh.
