Can you post a video? in my experience this is caused by either tracks not being consistent in gaps between the beat (causing the loop to be short or long of the end beat) or poor timing when activating the loop, which takes a good amount of practise to perfect. I learnt to loop on the original CDJ-800 that was fully manual so it had to be perfect with the in and out, modern auto loop functions are much more accurate, quantise can assist with this however I dont use it myself.

I use looping loads at my gigs (quite eclectic mix of should, disco, RnB, breaks, house, downtempo etc) to mix in and out of tracks and ive never felt the Prime 2 is any different than any other gear I use or have used, certainly no noticeable issues that dont occur anywhere else. I currently also use Serato but had a residency at a venue with CDJ Nexus setup for years too so used gear right across the board.

I play with loops a lot in my mixes, and with SYNC on, if you loop 4,8, 16, or whatever, it goes out of sync. The same thing happens if I use beat jump, as soon as I use any range, it goes out of rhythm and I have to press SYNC twice (off and on again) for the tracks to match the kick.

what I also observed with activated sync buttons is the following. when the loop is activated while playing the track, it becomes async. However, if the loop is already activated when the track is started, it remains sync.

I started fooling around with the "beat" loops in Logic Pro 8. The green ones work fine, but when I drag the blue ones into a project, they don't sound. Is there something special that has to be done to access the blue ones?

What I said is that since blue loops are simply audio files, they can be created anyway you like. If Apple wants me to create a blue loop, I can use my real acoustic guitar, layer it with an electric guitar going through a 3rd party amp modeler software, and layer that with Omnisphere. Since it's all audio at the end, it doesn't matter how you get there.

I have been playing around with ways to use break beats and drum loops without having to use beat_stretch or variables for sleep values in order to have other sounds or sample line up correctly. I came up with a function that will take any loop and return the correct bpm. You just need to provide the number of beats in the loop.

Regarding the last one however - in what way does that one not work? when I test it, the sample appears to play at slightly higher than normal rate, and the loop repeats exactly according to the beat.

What you have is the most common way of handling this type of dynamic music event. If you need anything quantized or on the beat then it must reside on the timeline, especially if you need transitions. It can get messy with larger more complex events, but it will be the simplest.

All softwares are updated: Traktor 3 Pro to 3.5.2, controller firmware to 1.3.0 and ASIO drivers to 5.2.0. Also WiFi, BIOS, Bluetooth, USB, etc. drivers are updated through an Intel Drivers Aplication. The USB cable is the one that comes standard with the controller. All the songs that I put are MP3 at 320 kbps.

Another thing that Traktor does is ignore silence when setting a grid. So if the loop has a silent part, for instance before a clap or hat that is meant to be offbeat it might skip ahead to place the marker.

Greetings and thank you very much for the welcome. I have always played with the SNAP connected. The last few weeks I've been trying with it disconnected and QUANT activated, but it does the same thing.

Other information in case it is useful: I work with Sample Rate 44100 Hz / Buffer Size 192 / USB Buffer 2 ms. I have tested the system with LatencyMon and the results are optimal. My laptop triples or more the safety margin.

thanks for replies.

an example of the loop im dragging to cubase is called dth drip 125,which means its 125 bpm

should this not play for me at different tempos?

i drag to track and it only plays at 125 if i change tempo of track the loop takes up less or more than the 2 bars it would take up at 125 bpm

i thought the whole point of musical mode was it would play the loop no probs at different tempos

The time base of a track determines if the events on a track are positioned to bars and beats (musical time base) or to the timeline (linear time base). Changing the playback tempo affects only the time position of events on tracks with a musical...

Most likely the sample rate of your loop. If sample 48khz and Cubase set to 44.1khz for instance, the loop will not stretch correctly. I had this issue with a bunch of 48khz sample loops I dragged into C12, before realising the samples needed to be at 44.1khz. Been so long since I have encountered the issue it confused me initially.

Much of my music is in 6/8 time. If I create a drum track and play around with various time signatures it always keep in time, whether 6/8, 4/4 or whatever. However, I want to use some Apple Loops. These conform to the project tempo and always change correctly if I change tempo, but I cannot find a way of conforming them to 6/8 time. I searched for loops in 6/8 and there is nothing. If that is correct then Apple loops are useless for anything other than 4/4.

Is there some way to get Apple Loops (either audio or midi based) to conform to the project time signature when it is other than 4/4? Cutting or stretching the loop does not help as the beat numbers and emphasis are wrong.

Sorry - that does not work. With a bit of luck I can fit 2 x 8 beat loops to match a 2 bar 6/8 sequence, but the timing and beat emphasis do not match. The metronome actually plays with the correct timing and emphasis on each 3 quavers, but the loop does not follow. I did try a bit of editing to try to move the notes onto the right beat, but this did not work well.

If you search for all Apple Loops in anything other than 4/4 time almost the only ones that come up are sound effects, and they don't really have any timing. A very small number of midi loops are in 6/8 or 2/4 time, but nothing that would be of any use.

Since virtually ALL loops have 4/4 time built in they will snap to the grid on 4 beat combinations. So an 8 beat loop will take 1+ bars on a 6/8 grid. If the loop beats were divisible by 6 then it might just be possible to combine multiple loops to (sort of) finish a phrase on a bar. But since the loops are only in 4, 8, 16 or 32 beats that is not divisible by 6 and these loops can never finish on a 6/8 grid. The tempo can change, but the beats cannot be stretched or shrunk.

So, unless I am wrong, it is goodbye to Apple Loops unless I constrict my song production to 4/4 - not something that I want to do. Of course, I can produce my own loops at the correct time signature using various instruments (physical and virtual), but the whole point of Apple Loops is to add different effects and try things out quickly.

Making a beat in GarageBand is one of my favourite parts about the music production process. GarageBand makes it easy and fun to quickly get up and running with a creative beat idea. I'll be teaching you a few of the popular beat making methods in GarageBand.

Just so we get on the same page, when I say "make a beat". I'm referring to programming a drum beat that you might use in a song or production. If you're more curious about how to make "type beats" which might include more instrumentation, you might be interested in my how to make a song series.

GarageBand has built-in features designed to get you up and running very quickly with a beat. I find myself using drummer tracks regularly if I need to set up a groove quickly. Let's go through how you would set up a drummer track in GarageBand and how you can customize the feeling of the beat so it fits best with your song.

This is the fun part. In the editor, (shortcut: "E"), you can now edit the drum presets by dragging the yellow dots in the "square". You can also adjust the swing and percussion sounds on the right side. You have a huge variety of patterns to choose from so spend some time dialling in on a sound you would like. I personally like starting out with simple and soft beats if I'm working on a verse section to a song. For my chorus', I would make the beat a bit louder and more complex and I might add a different hi-hat pattern too. Here's an example of a beat I made in GarageBand

Making a beat by programming your drums with MIDI is popular if you have a beat idea in your head or you're hearing something that you want to start with from scratch. For example, some times I have a beat idea in my head that I know what I want it to sound like. In this case, I would make a beat by programming the drums with MIDI. 152ee80cbc
