Grovelers make smaller waves with a steeper pocket a lot of fun. I recommend them for 3-6ft waves that have a little more power in them. I recommend something around 4-6" shorter than you.

These boards are designed to do a bit of everything in waves with small pockets. They paddle fast, go fast through flat spots, rip turns, get barreled, and can get int he air if you can find the right section.

The short and wide design helps with a few things. The full nose assists paddling. The short length provides for a the board to fit into waves with a small tight pocket and won't poke when dropping into a steep short wave. The wide tail allows for effortless planing through flat sections or for extra speed in critical sections. I like a slightly wide swallow tail to provide a balance of effortless planning as well as a release point for looser turns. Something that the nose won't poke on the drop and can go really fast down the line. Whether you want to get barreled and come out at a beach break or do turns at a flatter/softer wave, this board goes.
