This app “Bear Alert” (the “App”) does not automatically collect your name, email address, or similar personal information when you launch it. However, device information and related data may be obtained or processed when ads are shown (Google AdMob), when you contact us, or when certain permissions are used.
The App is an auxiliary tool primarily intended for bear-related safety measures in Japan. Emergency contacts are assumed to be 119 (fire/ambulance) and JAF (#8139). In other regions such as the United States, please use local emergency numbers (e.g., 911).

(You can also send mail from in-app Settings > Contact)
Device information (when contacting us): When you send mail from in-app Settings > Contact, OS version and device model are automatically inserted into the message body. We use this only to respond to inquiries and to investigate or improve issues.
Advertising (Google AdMob): We use Google’s advertising SDK. For details on information the SDK may obtain (such as advertising ID), see Google’s policy.
Information stored on device: Towing company phone numbers that you register in Settings or on the main screen are stored only in on-device storage. They are not sent to our servers.
Contacts (READ_CONTACTS): Used only when you choose a towing number from contacts; phone numbers are read on device. We do not store or transmit your contact list. Only the number you select may be saved on device.
Camera (CAMERA): For deterrent flash and bear detection AI. Video is analyzed only by an on-device machine learning model (single-class bear detection); it is not saved or sent to external servers. Not used for face recognition or biometric authentication. Depending on the device and OS version, the app may not be able to reliably tell whether you chose “While using the app” or “Only this time” in the system camera permission dialog. In that case, we may ask you again to confirm camera use (for example at app launch).
Map app integration: Buttons to find pay phones, convenience stores, Wi-Fi, etc. launch map apps installed on your device (such as Google Maps). The App itself does not obtain or store location information.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): To show notifications while foreground services such as bear bell or deterrent sounds are running.
Vibration (VIBRATE): For alerts.
Foreground services (FOREGROUND_SERVICE_*): For ongoing bear detection, audio playback, etc.
Sensor (ambient light): For automatic day/night screen mode. No data collection or transmission.
Modify audio settings (MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS): To adjust volume and audio output. We do not scan for, connect to, or obtain Bluetooth device information.
Bear detection analyzes camera video in real time with an on-device machine learning model. Video and detection results are not sent to our servers. See in-app Settings > Credits & Licenses for dataset and software licenses.
The App completes bear detection AI analysis on device and does not automatically send user data to our servers.
For advertising, Google (AdMob) may process information for ad delivery. See Google’s privacy and advertising policies for details.
Contact emails are received only when you choose to send them. We may use AI tools to assist with replies. Inquiry content is managed appropriately and is not disclosed to third parties without authorization except as required by law.
The App shows rewarded ads (optional viewing) and banner ads. Ads are not shown during bear detection warnings or emergency contact flows.
To limit personalized (interest-based) ads, change your device ad settings or Google ad settings.

(You may also be able to change this from device Settings > Google > Ads.)
In regions such as the EEA where consent is required, a consent screen via Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) may appear. You can change consent from in-app Settings > Ad consent settings (when shown).
The App is not designed or offered for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted information, please contact us at the address above.
California residents may have rights under applicable law to know categories and purposes of personal information collected, request deletion, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (which may include sharing related to ad personalization).
Except for contact emails and information processed via AdMob, we do not store user data on our servers. For deletion, disclosure, or opt-out requests, email vianexai.gt@zohomail.jp with subject line “California Privacy Request.”
For ad-related opt-out, also see “Ad Personalization and Opt-Out” above.
