Audible sound (20-20000 Hz) widely exists in natural world. However, the interaction between audible sound and the growth of plants is usually neglected in biophysics research. Not much effort has been put forth in studying the relation of plant and audible sound. In this work, the effect of audible sound on germination and growth of mung bean (Vigna radiate) was studied under laboratory condition. Audible sound ranging 1000-1500 Hz, 1500-2000 Hz, and 2000-2500 Hz and intensities [80 dB (A), 90 dB (A), 100 dB (A)] were used to stimulate mung bean for 72 hours. The growth of mung bean was evaluated in terms of mean germination time, total length, and total fresh weight. Experimental results indicated that the sound wave can reduce the germination period of mung bean and the mung bean under treatments of sound with intensity around 90 dB and frequency around 2000 Hz and significant increase in growth. Audible sound treatment can promote the growth of mung bean differently for distinct frequency and intensity. The study provides us with a way to understand the effects and rules of sound field on plant growth and a new way to improve the production of mung bean.

It can do all these things but I want to stress that you are putting it into multiple different situations that will alter the sound a lot. A guitar amp/cab is a lot different than a P.A. system. The same presets on ANYTHING will sound different. I use my PODHD Desktop into the FX return of a Marshall head and cab. But if I try to use the same preset into a P.A. it's totally wrong. But I was able to spend a few hours and build a different preset for P.A. systems that sounded very close.

Interpretive Summary: In this research, we found that using sound wave energy (high-power sonication) improved protein extraction yields in soybean flakes/flour, and chickpea or kidney bean flours and altered some protein properties that are beneficial for ingredient uses. Plant-based proteins are in high demand in the alternative proteins market; however, poor extractability and limited functionality are challenges in their commercial production. A physical technique being considered to aid plant protein processing is high-power sonication, which changes cellular and molecular structures in such a way that extractability and product quality could be enhanced. In the current work, we sonicated soy flakes and soy, chickpea or kidney bean flour at low or high power and then extracted the protein using conventional methods. We found that sonication resulted in a notable increase in extraction yield (almost 50%) of soy flakes protein. We also found that sonication caused changes to the protein native structure, such as breakage of certain bonds and unfolding, that helped improve extractability. Our results demonstrated that sonication is an effective technique for improving protein extraction yields and properties and a viable pre-extraction step for protein isolation. This research is useful to food ingredient processors and academic and industry researchers for designing efficient protein isolation methods that broadens the uses of plant-based proteins.
