Beanies4Hope

Beanies4Hope - is initiated by Anisha and Riya in 2018. Every year from Nov to March we make breakfast/dinner  and serve at  the warming center(Where unhoused members get a warm meal and bed to rest for the night ) .  We saw how hard it is for them to get through a cold night in winter. This same feeling motivated us to do something about it and the idea of providing beanies and scarves came into action . 

First year we started making beanies all by ourselves and as it is time consuming we could only make few through the year but in pandemic, due to online school we had all the time in summer and we make 100 beanies in 2020 April to Nov , at the same time we were able to reach to the community personals specially seniors who like to kill their time were so eager to join and helped us out . 

We have a community group of 31 members who help make beanies and support the cause . Together we create nearly 700 beanies annually.

After that, many kids started participating in the project . So far we have been distributing the beanies to 

1. Fremont shelter 

2. Fremont Warming center 

3. Abode Services 

4. San Jose Homeless shelter

5. Distributed at encampment

6. Sobrato Cancer Center
