📚 Welcome to Birmingham Public Schools! 📚
Congratulations on your employment with Birmingham Public Schools! The BEA is proud to have you as a member of our organization. Â
Â
Our mission, as it has been since we were established as The Birmingham Teacher’s Club in 1929, is to promote the best quality education for our students and ensure the best possible working conditions for our members. Likewise, we aim to make sure the integrity of the contract between BPS and BEA is upheld while also helping you to be the best teacher you can be. Notwithstanding, we pride ourselves on maintaining a collaborative and productive relationship with the administration to address issues and concerns of our teachers.
If you have not completed your online membership application, please do so as soon as possible (at least by September 1st) by clicking HERE.
If you prefer to complete a paper application, you can print THIS FORM and return it to your building representative.Â
Just as we believe it is important that teachers be given a voice in the educational decision-making process of our district, we also believe that the same holds true for our union.  We welcome your participation in the BEA. Representative meetings are always open to members in good standing. Meetings are typically held the third Wednesday of every month starting at 4:30. Your building rep will send out the zoom link if you would like to join.Â
For more information on a variety of bargained benefits including: insurance, family leave, sick days, co-curricular pay, liability insurance, duty-free lunch, days by arrangement, salary lane advancement, legal representation, donation of days, and other BEA benefits you can browse the information below.
