Beacon Realms Dev Log #1
Hey guys. It’s been a long time since Beacon Realms has been online, so we wanted to be honest with everyone about three things – the current state of the server, when the server will be playable, and whatever happened to that Roman project we posted an epic video of. We decided to make this little newsletter that we may or may not send out frequently to give you guys our side of the server. We may even throw in a video or two every once in a while!
That being said, let’s jump right in. We’ve got some good news about all three of these things but let’s start with the first. Luke, Ben, and Kaiden have been hard at work creating a permanent solution to all our resets. We call it – Beacon Realms! It might not sound original, but it’s going to mean a whole lot more for our community. For one, were using multiverse. This is a huge game-changer. We had it before, but now we’re actually using it now. The biggest way this will affect you is something you’ll welcome with open arms – no more survival resets! Now, this does come with a catch. After a while we may introduce end resets. This will not reset the end completely, even though that’s what it may sound like. That means you can keep your plans of building that epic end base you always dreamed of. However, we would recommend building it rather far away, because what end resets do mean is a periodic and scheduled respawning of the ender dragon. This will likely occur either once a week or once a month, depending on the activity of the server. Obviously, we want to allow everyone their chance of slaying the dragon and taking its egg for themselves. Another big game changer for the server is one that you may or may not like. While we will be opening the server Sunday the 17th to the official Discord, it will be published to server lists on Tuesday the 19th. What will this influx of players mean? For one, the server won’t seem so empty anymore. You’ll note when you first join the large capacity of the hub world, which we will use to connect the game modes. You will be able to freely change game modes at any time you like through the hub world. What other game modes will be available, you ask? Fortunately for you, many! Besides Survival, Beacon Realms now features a creative plot world as well as several exciting and unique minigames – Sky Wars, Kit PVP, and Build Battle. We always have room for more, of course, so check back often for minigames which we may discuss in future Dev Logs.
On to the next question – regarding the “release date” of Beacon Realms. Lucky for you, special early access will be available starting tomorrow, or Sunday the 17th. You can join and pick any game mode you’d like that’s available! In fact, you can begin playing survival without worry of reset. If the event ever arises where a survival world feels completed, we will add a fresh world and keep the past world easily accessible. Thanks to our hub setup, we can replace and upgrade aspects of the server without ever shutting down the whole shebang. We hope you will bear with our former resets and join us for a truly permanent server – finally! Invite all your friends and get a head start. There’s even a gravestone plugin, so while you can’t teleport to your death location you have three hours instead of five minutes to retrieve your stuff. With commands allowing you to set your home and teleport to others with their permission, you can rest assured you’ll have an easy and fun experience, while still keeping the challenging aspects of your survival experience.
Finally, that Roman project you saw is actually basically finished! We didn’t complete the main questline, but there’s still an hour or two of fun to be had exploring the world and seeing the lore in the grand library. Want to see it? Unfortunately, only friends of the owners may actually go visit, because it’s been slightly abandoned, and we never set up protection. Talk to Elf803 or Boplese to be teleported there for a little while and explore! We’re happy to share the project and we may even pick it back up again in the future. For Luke and Ben, it was the biggest project we ever made! It definitely served its purpose of making a month and a half of quarantine more enjoyable.
That’s it for our first Dev Log! I hope you enjoyed it. Perhaps future logs will be written by another person! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to as me or any other staff. We’ll be happy to assist you in whatever it is. Have fun, stay safe, and enjoy your time on Beacon Realms.
