In 2023, Malawi was devastated by a catastrophic Cyclone, prompting the Mindful Bend Community to unite in response. Since then, BE MINDFUL BEND, INC. has been actively involved, with the support of our community playing a significant role in the establishment of this nonprofit. The collaboration between Mindful Bend Fitness and the Tebbs Training Community has been instrumental in the growth of our organization.
From the Spring of 2023 onwards, we have been dedicated to assisting Yamikani House Orphanage and their farm project in rebuilding after the Cyclone's destruction. Our commitment extends to supporting the recovery and development of this resilient country, with a vision to engage our local youth in this noble cause. We aspire to transform this initiative into an ongoing summer mission for our youth, providing them with the opportunity to participate in a life-changing and positive experience within our community.
🌍 Empowering Malawi: Education as the Catalyst for Transformation
In the heart of southeastern Africa, Malawi faces profound economic challenges, ranking among the world's poorest nations. Our approach is rooted in a fundamental belief: sustainable change must emerge from within the community. By focusing on education and skills training, we aim to equip local individuals with the knowledge, tools, and opportunities needed to break cycles of poverty and create lasting, meaningful progress. We understand that true empowerment comes not from external intervention, but from nurturing local talent, building practical skills, and fostering a generation of educated, confident leaders who can drive their own community's development. Our commitment is to support Malawians in becoming architects of their own future, transforming challenges into opportunities through targeted, community-centered educational initiatives. 📚🤝
Meet Marie
(Moo-rie)
We're excited to introduce you to Marie, our adorable four-month-old black and white cow who just joined the farm, all thanks to the generosity of the Fincham Farm Trust. 🌿
Marie will provide fresh milk for the children at Yamikani House, and she'll also offer them a hands-on opportunity to learn about farming and cow care. 🐄👩🌾
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our Giving Tree Drive! 🌳 Your support made it possible for us to build a safe, fenced-in area with a cozy cover for Marie.

MAIZE
Our second harvest produced 17 MORE bags of Maize than the last!
61 bags of maize this year! 17 bags more than last year. 👏🙏🌍 No matter what you’re passionate about, or how you want to contribute to our world, your efforts truly matter. This project is a perfect example of how, with a little passion, intention, and a supportive community, change is possible. It might seem unattainable, or like your impact won’t be perfect, but every action counts. 🌟
Your efforts, both as an individual and within your community, can create lasting change. I’m incredibly thankful for everyone involved in this journey. 61 bags of maize 🌽 will nourish the children at Yamikani House for months! 💕☀️imagine how many meals 61 bags will ensure. It matters!!
The Chicken Project
One of the greatest gifts 🎁 we can give to Yamikani House is the gift of skills and education. Our chicken project began a few months ago (Thank you to the Fincham Farm Trust), and we are now entering the second round, which has proven to be successful and self-sustaining! Not only are the children learning about chicken farming, but they are also earning enough to help support Yamikani House and buy more chickens for the next round. 🐔✨
Sweet Potatoes
April 2025
We are on our 2nd harvest of sweet potatoes and looks like we will have 3 truck loads this year! ✨
learning to sew!
Our Holiday Giving Tree provided skills training for the children.
