• Due to the increased awareness about oral hygiene, the number of dental patients has also increased in the country. To treat these patients, one must possess a BDS degree as it has been mandatory in India that dentistry can be practiced only after completing BDS.
• Students are expecting an increase in job opportunities in the near future. The reason is that there has been a rapid increase in the number of dental patients as well as doctors and the government aims to provide better job opportunities to dentists by increasing job opportunities.
• Students can even practice their skills in countries like the USA and Canada to earn increased income as compared to what they get in India. However, for this, they need to clear exams like NBDE or NDEB.
BDS Salary in India
Graduates with a Bachelor of Dental Medicine degree have a wide range of opportunities available to them in terms of employment and career opportunities. They can choose to be dentists, researchers, lecturers, etc. in government or private hospitals or can even open their own dental clinic. However, not all graduates rush into work and earn money. Some opt for higher studies in the field of dental sciences. Some even go on to pursue higher studies such as Master of Dental Medicine.
Therefore, in the job sector, students can get job opportunities in the following fields:
• Government Sector: Students may find lucrative job opportunities in the defence services of India like Army/Navy/Air Force, Dentist in Indian Railways, and local government jobs as Dental Surgeons. However, jobs in these fields are available on the basis of eligibility, experience as well as vacancies.
• Private Sector: Students can find decent jobs in private hospitals or dental institutions, etc. Those who are not willing to do these jobs can open their own clinics to practice their skills in the profession.

What is the BDS Future Scope?
BDS Future Scope?
Students are expecting an increase in job opportunities in the near future. The reason is that there has been a rapid increase in the number of dental patients as well as doctors and the government aims to provide better job opportunities to dentists by increasing employment opportunities.
• It has been observed that in India there are more dentists than the required number. This problem can be solved if the availability of dentists is made equal in rural as well as urban areas.
• This is because many dentists practice their skills in urban areas, so if some of them are sent to rural areas to provide their services, there will be equal availability of dentists in both the areas.
• This shifting of regions will also increase job opportunities and equal distribution of labor in the public or government sector as well.
• The employment rate is expected to increase in the coming years.
• Due to these issues in India, some students are currently preferring to find employment in Gulf countries due to the huge requirements and increased salary along with additional perks offered to them as compared to what is offered in India.
Students wishing to opt for postgraduate studies can go to the following:
