BDO Foundation
BDO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, contributes to nation-building as it addresses the needs of various sectors of society
Founded in 2008, the foundation implements initiatives in the areas of financial inclusion, disaster response, rehabilitation and rebuilding.
In line with its disaster response advocacy, BDO Foundation immediately extended assistance to disaster-affected Filipinos in provinces placed under a state of calamity due to Super Typhoon Karding. The corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank organized relief operations for more than 12,000 families from 45 barangays in Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Quezon and Zambales. The initiative was made possible by volunteers from BDO and BDO Network Bank branches, non-governmental organization Ako Ang Saklay, partner parishes and social welfare offices. Volunteers visited underserved communities and distributed relief packs containing food, rice and drinking water to affected families.
THE corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank wasted no time reaching out to Filipinos devastated by Typhoon Rolly, considered the strongest storm in 2020. BDO Foundation immediately distributed its first batch of relief packs to almost 11,000 affected families in Albay, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes—provinces hit hardest by the super typhoon. The corporate citizenship initiative was made possible with the support of BDO and BDO Network Bank branches in the aforementioned areas. Branch officers helped their communities even as they themselves were affected by Rolly. ad
BDO Foundation conducts relief operations in disaster-stricken provinces by mobilizing volunteers from more than 1,000 BDO branches all over the country. As part of its long-term rehabilitation program, the foundation revisits these provinces and rehabilitates rural health units that need assistance.
The foundation improves the health center’s offices, clinics, pharmacy, consultation rooms, minor surgery rooms, treatment rooms and other facilities. It also constructs a reception area, lounge for the elderly and kids play area. It upgrades the maternity and birthing clinic, labor and recovery rooms, and breastfeeding station to provide mothers and infants the best patient care possible.
BDO Foundation will continue to pursue—even expand—its rehabilitation program and address the needs of communities where BDO Unibank has branches. It will continue to work for the health and well-being of mothers, children, the elderly and families, particularly the underprivileged.
BDO Foundation will monitor the condition of rehabilitated health centers through feedback provided by health officers, foundation personnel or BDO branch officers. The foundation will leverage the support of local government units to ensure that rehabilitated facilities will be taken care of and properly maintained. Agreements signed by BDO Foundation and local officials spell out the responsibilities of local government for the maintenance of facilities.
