Hi, I'm Luke, Presbytery Minister Mission for the Presbytery of WA. Let me tell you about BDC and why I'd encourage your congregation to consider taking part.
Your congregation's greatest missional challenge probably isn’t running programs or outreach - it’s helping people outside the church take steps toward God. This is why we need coaching in how to make disciples in a 21st-century Australian context.
BDC Australia has been coaching local churches of all shapes in sizes to place the mission of God in the hands of ordinary people. This is a proven method of helping congregations build a culture of disciple making by empowering ordinary followers of Jesus to live out the great commission. BDC have invited me to lead new coaching cohorts for Uniting Church congregations in WA starting in August/September.
I know of no better way of equipping you and your congregation to help friends, neighbours, and colleagues take their own steps toward Jesus. If you feel called, I invite your Minister and/or key lay leaders to join one of these cohorts. Over 12 months, we’ll meet fortnightly for one-hour sessions on zoom - at least 15 in total. Along the way, we’ll also gather for a couple of two-day intensives for your whole team, where we’ll explore disciple-making tools and help you make practical plans.
This 12 month process usually costs congregations around $2,500. However, thanks to the generosity of BDC Australia and the Future Mission Fund of UCWA, only a voluntary contribution is required.
