Beach Cities Young Democrats is a youth-led community (ages 13 to 21) from the Beach Cities of Los Angeles! We meet twice a month both online and in person and regularly host different kinds of events and meetings for people to learn more about America's democracy and how we can support it.
Frequently Asked Questions
1.) Where do we meet?
We meet online through Zoom every month. As for our in-person meetings, we do not have one specific place where we meet because we want to be able to support our members of all locations across the South Bay. In order to accomplish this, our meeting spot fluctuates so make sure to keep in touch to learn where our next meeting place will be!
2.) What is our mascot?
Our mascot is a starfish! We chose this to be our mascot because starfish are known for being resilient with their ability to regenerate lost limbs. We hope to be able to provide an environment that teaches youth how to be resilient when things get bad.
3.) What is the Executive Board and how do we decide it?
The Executive Board is a group of members that have more responsibilities than the average member. Each Board member applies for the position they want and is voted on by the General Body. The President and Vice President are voted on in a separate election in Early Spring each year. If you want to learn more about Executive Board roles and Elections then check out our Bylaws.
4.) Are there any adults involved?
We do have an adult advisor for the club, but she mostly handles background work. Everything else is handled and led by our Youth.
