Probationary is the rank assigned to all new members of the department. Probationary are required to complete three ride-alongs per our FTO program guidelines, in order to be certified for solo patrol and eligible for promotion.
Once a Probationary is eligible for promotion, he/she will be promoted to the rank of Deputy, except for in certain circumstances in which a Probationary Deputy may be promoted to Senior Deputy.
Directly above the rank of Deputy, is the rank of Senior Deputy
The first Supervision member is Corporal. Deputies Promoted to Corporal have shown knowledge in Law Enforcement, and have shown an ability to be thorough, thoughtful, and professional in all aspects of the job. These Deputies will be in training and looked at for Sergeant Positions.
Sergeant is directly after Corporal Deputies that have reached this rank have demonstrated their leadership skills and have passed the Sergeant's Exam.
Staff Sergeant is the next rank directly above SGT. Staff Sergeants have an increased responsibility within the department and supervises the department's FTO program. Staff Sergeants directly supervise the department CPLs.
The BCSO has five LT positions, and members of this rank are responsible for leading other department non-commissioned deputies (CPL-SSGT). In addition, Lieutenants monitor department commendations and Record Keeping.
The Captain is directly above Lieutenant in rank, and begins Administrative Command. Captains are In charge of Assisting in investigating Internal Affair complaints and miscellaneous tasks assigned by Commanders and Division Commanders.
The Blaine County Sheriffs office has 5 different Commander Positions, all corresponding to a Division within the BCSO. The Divisions include:
Asst. Patrol Operations
Asst. Department Administration & Discipline
Asst. Subdivisions & Special Operations
Asst. Recruitment & Public Relations
Asst. Training & Field Training Division.
They are responsible for helping run the aforementioned divisions, working under a Division Commander.
The Blaine County Sheriffs office has 5 different Division Commander Positions, all corresponding to a Division within the BCSO. These include:

Oversees Recruitment & Public Relations

They are responsible for running the aforementioned divisions, working with a Commander to run these divisions to the best of there ability. The holder of the position is able to choose what they want to run.
The Chief Deputy is directly above Division Commander in rank, and starts Executive Command
are In charge of Assisting in investigating Internal Affair complaints, Assisting in Department Administration and Overseeing Administrative Command
The Assistant Sheriff is directly above Chief Deputy in rank, and begins 01/02/03. The Assistant Sheriff is in charge of investigating Internal Affair complaints, is the Head of Department Administration and Oversees Administrative Command
The Undersheriff is the second-in-command for the operations of the department. The Deputy Commissioner is the BCSO the Chain of Command Supervisor and the Professionalism and Ethics Supervisor, as well as the Assistant Head of Department Development.
Sheriff of the Blaine County Sheriffs Office is the highest rank in the structure. The Sheriff is responsible for supervising the overall operation of the department, ensures that subordinates are operating in a proper fashion and is the Head of Department Development.
