Welcome to the home of the Bradford Centre for Qualitative Research (BCQR)

Supported by Born in Bradford (BiB)

Our Goals:

Connect strong qualitative researchers in Bradford.  Support those researchers build capacity and opportunity. Develop high quality, impactful and innovative research.

How we plan to achieve these goals:

The Bradford Centre for Qualitative Research (BCQR) is a dynamic collective of researchers carrying out research in or about different dimensions of health experiences in the city of Bradford, West Yorkshire. While we have wide-ranging research focuses within applied health research, we share a passion for qualitative approaches. Since the inception of BCQR in January 2023, we have been working to shape our offer to support us in achieving our goals.

The BCQR designs and delivers bespoke training sessions on a range of components of doing qualitative research, supporting our aim to promote the development of impactful research. These aim to educate both beginners and experts in a variety of qualitative practices, from interview skills and focus groups, to using creative qualitative methods. We view our training as a cornerstone of the Centre's work, and hope to bring further diverse and exiting opportunities for researchers in Bradford to develop their skills

At the BCQR we understand that research can at times become alienating, so have developed a regular 'Quali-Tea Time' to encourage peer support, where researchers can come and share ideas, difficulties, and solve their problems together. This monthly get-together provides a welcome space to all qualitative researchers within the Bradford Institute for Health Research and affiliated Universities who feel they may benefit from a relaxed environment, to approach research challenges collaboratively. This helps us to deliver on our goal of connecting and supporting qualitative researchers.
