Head Coach
Angela Long is the Head Coach for the Team USA BCP Division for 2025, bringing a wealth of experience from a coaching career that began in 2013 with the founding of Survivors in Sync (SIS), the world championship breast cancer team based in Sarasota, Florida. As a breast cancer survivor and patient advocate, she recognized the transformative benefits of dragon boating for physical, mental, and social well-being.
Under her leadership, SIS thrived, achieving remarkable results, including a 4th place finish out of over 120 teams at the 2018 IBCPC Festival in Florence, Italy, and winning the National Club Crew Championship in 2019. Since taking the helm at NBP, she has guided the team to success across multiple divisions, winning several national titles and earning numerous berths for the Club Crew World Championships.
A certified Level 2 Competitive Dragon Boat Coach for both the United States Dragon Boat Federation and Dragon Boat Canada, she has also steered for Team USA, including the 2021 Sr B team in Hong Kong and the 2023 Sr A & B women's boats in Thailand. Passionate about Applied Positive Psychology, Angela is dedicated to empowering paddlers to find health, happiness, and personal fulfillment through the sport of dragon boating.

Paula Murray is an accomplished assistant coach selected for the Team USA BCP Division and a dedicated member of the NBP Paddling Club since 2016. As the BCP Team Captain for Survivors In Sync, she has excelled as both a drummer and paddler, contributing to the team’s impressive achievements in Club Crew competitions, including multiple gold medals at the SRDBA Nationals and the USDBF CCNC.
Paula has a strong background in competitive paddling, which has helped her team secure top rankings at IBCPC Festivals, including a remarkable first-place finish in 2023. She holds Canadian Coaching Certificates at Levels 1 and 2, as well as a USA Coach Certificate at Level 1. Known for her ability to analyze data, set strategic goals, and foster effective communication, Paula emphasizes the importance of training both the mind and body. With expertise in understanding the limitations associated with breast cancer, she is a valuable resource for her athletes, bringing positivity and fun to the team environment.

Don Bickel is a certified personal trainer and the owner of F45 Gym in Lakewood Ranch, where he brings his passion for fitness and health to the community. As a dedicated member of the Team USA BCP Division, Don has competed as a paddler at the world championship level, showcasing his skills on both the "Dream Team" in 2021 and the Senior B Division in 2023. He is a member of Team USA's 2025 Senior A Dragon Boat team.
A gold medalist in the CCWC 2022 for the Sr B Mixed small boat, Don's impressive achievements also include being named a national title athlete at the CCNC 2023. His commitment to competitive sports extends beyond paddling, as he is an adventure racing athlete and has participated in various other competitive disciplines.
Since 2018, Don has also served as the trainer for Survivors in Sync, where he has been instrumental in developing tailored training programs that enhance the performance and well-being of team members. As a trainer, Don focuses on optimizing performance and fostering resilience among athletes, drawing from his extensive experience in fitness and competitive sports. His dedication to excellence and deep understanding of physical training make him a valuable asset to the Team USA BCP Division, where he inspires fellow paddlers to reach their full potential.

Carla Durr serves as the Team Manager for the Team USA BCP Division, bringing a wealth of experience in team management and event coordination within the dragon boat community. She has played a vital role in assisting with the CCWC Ravena NBP Team, managing critical tasks such as tracking Anti-Doping class completion, confirming USDBF membership for over 70 paddlers, and coordinating rosters with event organizers. Carla also facilitated registration and credential distribution for NBP paddlers and their supporters while actively paddling on the NBP Women's team.
Currently, Carla is assisting with planning the upcoming Linked in Pinks Unleash the Dragons International Dragonboat Festival and Leadership Camp, where she organizes camp session rosters, supports boat seating arrangements, and serves as a floater to resolve last-minute issues. Since joining the NBP Paddling Program in May 2022, she has significantly contributed to team management and event planning, serving as Team Captain at two dragon boat festivals.
A member of both USDBF and SRDBA, Carla is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) since 2000, providing a solid foundation of project management expertise to her role. Her commitment and organizational skills make her an invaluable asset to the Team USA BCP Division.

Tammy Younts joined the NBP Dragon Boat team in September 2023, where she has already made her mark as a competitor. She participated in the Club Crew World Championships in Ravenna as a member of the Women’s Senior B crew and served as an alternate for the Mixed Senior C crew.
With a strong professional background, Tammy was a Clinical Professor of Literacy and Language at Purdue University, where she managed data related to literacy program implementation. Previously, as an elementary teacher and instructional coach, she oversaw student achievement data for over 1,000 students and 50 teachers.
Tammy holds a BA in Recreation Management and an MA in Elementary Education, and she is currently ABD in her PhD program in Educational Psychology. Her athletic background includes high school gymnastics, long-term coaching at various levels, and being part of the college powerlifting team at Purdue University.
Tammy’s expertise in data analysis and her diverse experience in education and sports make her a valuable asset to the TUSA BCP team.
