Biosafety information
Dear colleagues,
We know that some of you intend to come personally to Vitória for our next event to come. Therefore, we shall provide information about biosafety in Vitória in Brazil (here on this webpage) as much as we can.
By now, we know that the Secretary of Health of Espírito Santo State is providing truthful information on the development of the COVID-19 spread in our area. The news is tempting. Our university already planned to come to relative normality from May ahead since the situation is coming to stability with very comfortable statistical data about the number of infected people with serious consequences decaying in a very consistent way ([1, p. 1,2], [4, p. 3]).
We suppose that some of you are coming to Vitória with your health insurance, but we would like to let you know that in the state of Espírito Santo the public health system is working pretty well against the virus spreading and healthcare. We even have a vaccination point here at UFES without the need for a previous appointment ([3]).
The firm action of our congressmen ensured that now Brazil is vaccinating very fast, and the rate of infection is decaying proportionally. We have 82% of our population partially vaccinated (¹) and 57% fully vaccinated (²). We are starting to apply the third dose of vaccine for those whose last dose was applied in at least five months. So the situation is really under control by now. The use of appropriate masks in closed spaces (e.g., in our auditorium) is mandatory by the Espirito Santo State and UFES regulations, based on recommendations of the World Health Organization – WHO ([1], [2], [5]). We emphasize that we have some biosafety recommendations from the Operative Biosafety Committee of UFES, which we have to follow during the event. All these recommendations will be available at an appropriate time.
As you can see, we are doing our best to let you have a comfortable and safe staying, so we recommend all people that intend to attend in presence to our event to be completely vaccinated.
