A detached panel (22 by 14 inches) from Trilochaneswar temple (9th century AD) depicts an episode of an ancient Sanskrit epic, Ramayana (« Rama's Journey » in sanskrit) composed between the 3th century BC and the 3th century AD.
In this episode (« Ravananugraha-murti »), the demon Ravana lifts the mount Kailash, house of Shiva and Parvati.
The demon Ravana (he has ten heads) is seated on his haunches. Above him Shiva and Parvati are playing with a board depicted vertically between them. Shiva is four-armed and stretches his major left hand towards Parvati.
