BCIT Early Childhood Education Center

Overview of our program:

Students enrolled in our Early Childhood Education Program are ages 2.5-5 years old and potty-trained. We follow our BCIT School Year Calendar and are open 7:30am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday. We are closed when the school is closed for holidays, snow, or in-service activities for staff. Our tuition is paid on the MySchoolBucks app weekly for $160. This amount may increase slightly from year-to-year as operating costs increase.

You would need to provide a morning and afternoon snack, as well as lunch for your child.

We have two classrooms in our school: the Preschool Classroom for students ages 2.5-4 years old and the PreK Classroom for students who are 4-5 years old and will be entering Kindergarten the following school year.  Our school has an academic foundation based on the state approved preschool curriculums such as Heggerty, Zoo Phonics, Al’s Pals and Creative Curriculum in addition to our thematic units that are created by our staff and Future Educator Teacher Cadets. Our goal is to ensure your child is ready for Kindergarten and beyond to become a lifelong learner.

Our school day is structured in a way to encourage learning through play, which includes scheduled times for small and large group academic instruction, circle time, story time, center time exploration and outdoor play. Our Future Educators Teacher Cadets also assist in the classrooms as they practice their teaching skills in a real-life setting under the example and guidance of our Preschool and PreK room staff.

Registration Information

Our Preschool classroom has 10 students enrolled and our PreK classroom has 12 students.

Registration for the fall begins in March when we will survey current families in our program to see if they will be returning the following school year. Then we open enrollment to our BCIT staff members to fill any existing classroom spots.

If there are any spots remaining in either  classroom, we will open publicly on a first come-first serve basis in May.

Deposits to secure your child's spot need to be made on MySchoolBucks and are non-refundable.

Curriculum

Our program runs using Creative Curriculum, as well as Zoo Phonics, Heggerty for Phonemic Awareness, and hands-on, teacher created lessons to educate the whole child in ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science skills for preschool aged students.

We use the Al's Pals curriculum for our Social and Emotional Learning studies and take many field trips throughout the year to connect real world experiences to our thematic units. We love to host guest presenters to connect to our community and also visit the BCIT campus throughout the year to see all the wonderful things happening in our fellow CTE programs.
