The Burke County High School Chorus program is undergoing a big change for the better in 2024-2025! We strive to be a full and active part of our school community. Chorus is, above all, a place where we build a sense of family and community that lasts a lifetime. Our large and small ensembles perform regularly at school and district functions, collaborate often with other Fine Arts programs, and appear outside the school through concerts, festivals, and community events. We look forward to building our tradition of excellent performance this school year.
Chorus students are challenged with a fun variety of music. Students have the opportunity to choose well-known tunes to sing for community events, and they also discover lesser-known but beautiful pieces throughout their time in the program. Our large ensembles learn not only to sing beautifully together, but to read and interpret music for ourselves. We learn to sing in different languages like Latin, Spanish, French, German, and even Swahili. Chorus also offers the opportunity for small ensembles of singers to work together on solos, duets, and trios for competitive and non-competitive performance. Under new direction this year, we strive for Superior and Excellent ratings at local and regional festivals and evaluations.
By developing their musicianship through full participation in Choral activities, students learn valuable life lessons like responsibility, citizenship, community spirit, loyalty, and the value of hard work. In short, BCHS Chorus members GROWL, and we are excited for you to join us this year!
Email Mrs. Crose:
Mrs. Rebekkah Nordan Crose has dedicated her life to excellence in music. She has contributed to a wide variety of musical experiences. Her background includes studies and extensive performances in piano, percussion, handbells, private voice, and, of course, choir. Outside the classroom, she volunteers to organize District Honor Chorus events and sings with The Cecilia Ensemble.
Mrs. Crose is new to Burke County this year, but is no stranger to the classroom. She is entering her fourteenth year of teaching music and is incredibly excited to contribute positively to the choral program at Burke County High School. Mrs. Crose holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Augusta University and a Master of Music Education from University of West Georgia. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband Neil, all of their children, their dogs Fezzik and Westley, and their cats Pip, Roxy and Slick.
