Law Adventure,
NJ Bar Association
Congratulations to Glen Rock's 8th grade students for making the Top 10 in the Law Adventure competition! They presented their original cases in a mock trial, with students from other districts serving as the jury.
Panasonic Eco-Citizenship Competition
Congratulations to two of our amazing student groups who placed in the top 15 out of hundreds of submissions in the NJ Panasonic Student Eco Citizenship Program!
“From Trends to Trash” addressed the impact of fast fashion and clothing waste. The students raised awareness through posters and announcements and collected 183 items for the Purple Heart Foundation in just two weeks. We are so proud of both groups for their dedication to helping the environment.
“Halt with the Salt” focused on the environmental dangers of road salt and promoted alfalfa meal as a safer alternative. The group created a petition, collected over 50 signatures, and shared their message with state leaders. They also hope to launch an eco-citizenship club to continue their work.

BCCTG Workshop, Paramus
January 2025
Thank you to Cindy Cappozi for hosting and Principal Joseph Colangelo for a wonderful lunch! Educators collaborated on BCCTG competitions and heard from Dr. Norna Jules, Clinical Psychologist, on supporting gifted children in the classroom.
Key takeaways from Dr. Jules’ presentation:
Giftedness is a trait, not a diagnosis, with varying definitions.
Twice exceptionality involves both giftedness and co-occurring challenges.
Dabrowski’s Overexcitabilities (OE) impact learning and behavior.
Strategies include movement breaks, sensory supports, inquiry projects, and emotional check-ins.
A great day of learning and collaboration- thank you to all who attended!

Rutherford
The 5th grade Gifted and Talented class took a stroll around Rutherford to analyze the architectural styles they had been studying. In groups with "experts," they identified features like bay windows on Victorian homes, pillars on Greek Revival homes, and stucco on Tudors. After exploring modern homes with sleek lines, they returned to class to review their findings and began designing their own homes in their chosen architectural style.
Glen Rock
6th-8th Grade students completed a mini cryptography and escape room unit by researching historical events and using their findings to create their own ciphers and puzzles. They then challenged their classmates to solve these puzzles, applying cryptography techniques they had learned!
