When people tune in to watch action movies, they tend to have their focus on the more noticeable things like all the crazy effects, the setting, the latest CGI, and all that other fancy stuff that goes into making a badass film. One of the key components that I see many taking for granted however, is the main character. You know, that one person carrying out all the action in the movie? Killing all the bad guys and blowing stuff up! They speak with a certain tone, the other characters in the film may fear or respect them. I’m sure you can picture the image in your head. Characters like these truly peak my interest. I have always wondered what makes us so captivated by them. What is it that makes us think that they are so cool? I would love to try to answer that question. In this podcast, we will be discussing the traits that are most commonly found in the main characters of popular action movies, such as the American classic Rambo and his balance of violence and soft caring side, and Will Smith’s performance in Hancock with a showing of overwhelming impoliteness, and why they work.
