About BCHP

Buffalo Chinese Health Professionals (BCHP) is a non-profit organization aimed to facilitate the professional and social interactions of Buffalo area medical, biomedical and related research professionals of Chinese origin or descent. It provides a platform for professional collaborations, meetings, and social gatherings. The goals of BCHP are to promote professional development and social networking of its members. BCHP also holds regular medical & health knowledge seminars for the Buffalo Chinese/Asian immigrant community, provides critical health programs and services that promote mental health of the community.

BCHP 成立于2011年，成员包括布法罗地区从事医疗卫生，生物科学及相关领域工作的华人医务人员，科学家以及管理职业人员。BCHP的宗旨是为会员们提供一个认识交流的平台，促进会员之间相互了解，分享信息资源，创造专业和事业的合作并成为生活里的朋友。BCHP也会定期组织面对布法罗华人社区的医学知识科普性讲座。 BCHP的一个长期目标是努力让组织发展壮大，让布法罗大多数甚至全部的医生和医学及相关专业学者参与进来，进而让每年BCHP的活动和相关的美国医学，生物公司及社会机构也有一个互动，争取他们的赞助，了解他们的相关新产品，增进和他们的交流和合作活动。

BCHP member会费是$30-$50/每年，每年officers视BCHP财务情况调整数目。协会会以"取之于民，用之于民"的理念争取每年组织大概2次活动，从学术交流性活动，到如新年或春节前后的茶话会，夏秋季户外野餐等，视members们需要和兴趣安排。

Membership 

Membership is limited to Buffalo area medical, biomedical or related research professionals of Chinese origin or descent who have a clinical practice or an independent research laboratory. A doctoral degree is required — the current BCHP Officer group will evaluate special requests on a case-by-case basis.  Membership is about $30-$50 per year (from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31 each year).

Activities 

BCHP holds two meetings each year. One is a business style gathering in the Spring to discuss each member's field and potential collaborations. Another is a banquet style lunch or dinner in a restaurant at the end of the year. 

Organization

BCHP has a President, a Vice President, a Treasurer, and an Information Officer serving on a volunteer basis without compensation. The term is two years for all officers.

The President is responsible for the general operation of the organization and calls for meetings to discuss issues of interest to members.  

The Vice President assists the President and may serve as the President in the event of absence of the President.  

The Treasurer is responsible for collecting membership fees/donations and has the signature rights of the funds donated by members.  

The Information Technology Officer is responsible for maintaining BCHP's web site, mailing-list, and wechat group.
