Dr. Bibhuti Bhusan Parida received his M.Sc. degree (Advanced Organic Chemistry Specialization) from Utkal University (Bhubaneswar, Odisha). He qualified National level entrance examinations (CSIR-NET-JRFs, GATE) to pursue Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry at CSIR-Indian Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), Hyderabad under the supervision of Dr. S. Chandrasekhar (former Director CSIR-IICT and former Secretary, DST-GoI). Subsequently, before joining Berhampur University, he had over 7-years of post-PhD experiences, including postdoctoral research at Wayne State University-Michigan (USA), Institute Curie-Paris (France), and teaching at IIIT Bhubaneswar. He has worked in several collaborative interdisciplinary research areas in the USA, France, Sweden, and England. He is a recipient of the Institute Curie-Fellowship in Paris, France. Dr. Parida is a recipient of "Prof. R. C. Tripathy Memorial Award" (2019) (Young Scientist Award) instituted by the Orissa Chemical Society (OCS). Dr. Parida has expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, and his research area focus includes total synthesis of bioactive natural products, development of new synthetic methodologies, asymmetric synthesis, C-H activation, sustainable organic synthesis to access biologically relevant N, S, O-heterocycles, target-oriented organic synthesis for drug discovery, drug designing-synthesis, and application in chemical biology. Small molecule synthesis and their application in biology, drug discovery for societal application are central to his research expertise. His laboratory welcomes motivated candidates with fellowships to carry out research work in synthetic organic chemistry and its application.
