Meet Your Counselors!
Hi Baker-Butler families! This is my third year as a Bear and I am so excited to continue getting to know all of the students and families in this wonderful community. As a bit of background, I grew up in Maryland and graduated from the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) in 2020 with my Bachelor’s in Psychology and from the University of Virginia (Go Hoos!) with my Master’s in Counselor Education in 2023. I am focused on supporting the holistic development of each child - academically, socially, emotionally, and so much more - and would love to hear how I can best support your child and family.
Outside of school, I love running, kayaking, hiking, and exploring all of the fun spots around Charlottesville with my friends and family. I look forward to meeting you!

Hi all! My name is Cheryl Drew, and I am excited to start my second year at BBES and my sixth year as a school counselor! I grew up in Sterling, Virginia, and went to James Madison University to earn a Bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in English. Afterward, I attended UVA for graduate school to get my Master's in School Counseling. I worked at Woodbrook ES right down the road for my first 4 years!
I have lived in Charlottesville for 7 years and love exploring the city with my friends and my dog, Cinnamon, and playing softball and kickball. I am a huge fan of reading, good movies/TV shows, and tater tots. 😊
Hello families! I’m thrilled to join the staff at Baker-Butler this year as a mental health support specialist. I’m a social worker and therapist with a passion for school-based mental health, and I look forward to partnering with families, teachers, and staff to ensure every student has the support they need.
My work with kids and families has included running narrative writing workshops for teens in foster care, providing TDT counseling for students with emotional and behavioral challenges, and serving as an outpatient therapist at Region Ten’s Child and Family Clinic and at Albemarle High School. I’m a graduate of Tufts University and hold a master’s in clinical social work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Outside of school, I’m typically hanging out with my family and our little dog, Leo 😊, and I love to read, bake, and swim!
