Having trouble activating your streaming app on TV?
Forgetting passwords happens to the best of us. If you're trying to sign in on your Smart TV or activate your device via bbc.com/tvcode but can’t remember your password — don’t worry. The BBC makes it easy to reset your account password securely.
Your BBC account is used to:
Access BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds, and BBC News
Activate your device using bbc.com/tvcode
Sync your content across TV, phone, and laptop
Set parental controls and manage preferences
On your phone or computer, visit 👉 https://account.bbc.com/signin
Click on "Forgotten your password?" just below the login fields.
You’ll be asked to enter the email address linked to your BBC account.
Click “Send me a link” after entering your email.
BBC will send a password reset email to your inbox. Open the email and click on the reset link.
Once you click the link:
Enter a new password (must be strong and unique).
Confirm the password.
Click “Save” or “Continue”.
Your new password is now active.
Now that you’ve reset your password, go back to 👉 bbc.com/tvcode
Enter the code shown on your TV
Sign in using your new password
Your device will now be activated successfully.
Use a password manager like LastPass or Bitwarden.
Avoid using the same password for multiple sites.
Set a password you can remember but others can’t guess (mix letters, numbers, symbols).
Q1: I didn’t receive the reset email. What should I do?
Check your spam/junk folder. If it’s not there, wait 5–10 minutes and try again.
Q2: My reset link expired.
Simply repeat the reset process. You’ll get a new link.
Q3: Can I reset my password from my Smart TV?
No. You must use a browser on your phone, tablet, or computer to reset your password.
Q4: I no longer have access to my email. What now?
You’ll need to create a new BBC account using a new email.
