The Economics Society is called BBC Economics Society. All students of the department, as well as the faculty member of the department of Economics are members of this society. This society is created for holistic development of students. This society is student driven, with faculty contribution being mainly advisory. Students are encourage to participate in various activities of the society such as presentation, quizzes, debates, articles writing, play, and so on. The Department of Economics actively encourages its students to do research through projects. Our aim is to give exposure to students so that they can participate in the market economy. For skill development, we have undertaken research program to be part of curriculum in Every Academic year. Students are encourage to voluntarily undertake projects of their choice, with mentorship from the department. In our recent 2016 and 2017 batch, several students have opted for higher studies and they are pursuing it in some of the well known universities such as Banaras Hindu University, Jadavpur University and Calcutta University. This society is aims to bring the participatory experience of real world into class, enriching the teaching learning process.
