Welcome to my page!

I am a research scientist at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), USA. Prior to this, I worked as a senior researcher in the Data Science Group, Center for Mathematical and Computational Sciences, Institute for Basic Science (기초과학연구원) and worked as a postdoc in the Industrial Artificial Intelligence Lab., POSTECH (포항공과대학교) and the Intelligent Enterprise Lab., School of Management Engineering, UNIST (울산과학기술원), respectively. I received a Ph.D. in information systems from PKNU (부경대학교), 🇰🇷 in 2018.

I had spent about 9 years (2013-2022) in 🇰🇷, had lived in many big cities such as Seoul, Busan, Ulsan, Pohang, and Daejeon. I speak Korean (received TOPIK Level 4) as well.

I love playing piano/synthesizer 🎹 during my free time. I mostly play Yamaha P-45, Yamaha DGX670, Oxygen Pro 61, and recently Roland Juno D7. Besides, I love cooking (mostly Korean, Chinese, or Indonesian foods) whenever I am hungry😆.

Most of my research lies in some broad areas of applied data science, including data-driven cybersecurity, predictive monitoring of business process, industrial applications, healthcare informatics, and social informatics. Presently,  I do research on applied data science for the polar region under the umbrella of the NSF HDR Institute for Harnessing Data and Model Revolution in Polar Regions (iHARP).  I am also adjunct faculty in the IS Department, UMBC, where I teach, mentor, and co-supervise several undergraduate and MS/Ph.D. students.

I have been listed among the top 2% of scientists worldwide by Stanford University since 2021 to present.
