Baylor Undergraduate Mock Trial (BUMT) is an organization on Baylor’s campus that allows students the opportunity to participate in an emulation of real-world legal settings using a fabricated case. At the start of each Mock Trial season, teams are given a complete case packet by the American Mock Trial Association (“AMTA”). Using the provided materials, Baylor’s team develops a coherent case theory and prepares compelling witness portrayals, cutting examinations, and effective evidentiary arguments to bring that case theory to life for the judges. Our witnesses and attorneys perfect each stage of trial as they prepare themselves to go head-to-head against the nation’s top schools.
Being able to compete in BUMT gives students valuable opportunities, such as gaining public speaking and communication skills that will be valuable to students of any profession and providing an opportunity for students to interact and grow alongside engaging peers.
We recruit and hold tryouts in the Fall but our season lasts throughout the entire school year.
