Bayesian Workshop in Lisbon

10 - 12 January 2024, Faculdade de Psicologia, Universidade de Lisboa
ROOM : AULA 10

The purpose of this workshop is to promote the application of Bayesian methods among the early career researchers (i.e., master students, PhD students and postdoctorals) and to establish a good practice of open science within this group. Hence, this workshop will provide introduction on Bayesian concepts and hands-on materials using R and brms package.

Prior knowledge of Bayesian analysis is not required for this workshop. Nonetheless, a basic understanding of frequentist methods would be helpful in grasping the Bayesian theoretical concepts and understanding the difference between them. Concerning the hands-on exercises, familiarity with R is not a prerequisite, yet having some experience or knowledge in this area would be advantageous.

In this workshop, participants will have a talk on modelling individual variability by João Veríssimo, Ph.D. from CLUL - Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal. The Bayesian workshop will be delivered by Mark Andrews, Ph.D. from The School of Social Sciences at University of Nottingham, United Kingdom.

This workshop will be delivered in English. To participate please fill the application form. Participation does not incur any charges but participants are responsible for arranging their own travel, lodging, and meals. Participants also need to bring their own laptop. The application will be closed on 18 Dec 2023. As we have limited place, we need you to indicate briefly how this workshop aligns with your research; we will send confirmation of your participation by 23 Dec 2023.
