The Grant Family
Bayer’s Melon Farm Market & Greenhouse first opened in August 1988, founded by John Bayer and operated by the Bayer family. It began as a simple roadside melon stand offering fresh, homegrown melons during the summer season.
Over time, that melon stand grew into a full produce market, expanding to sweet corn, strawberries, tomatoes, and a wide variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables. For decades, families in the Dayton area made it a tradition to stop by for fresh produce and friendly service.
In 2026, the Grants, took over the operation and began a new chapter. That same year, we added a greenhouse to expand our offerings to include flowers, vegetable plants, hanging baskets, and seasonal plants suited for Ohio gardens. We also introduced durable outdoor poly furniture and bulk mulch to better serve our customers’ homes and landscapes.
While the farm has grown, the foundation remains the same — quality products, honest work, and strong relationships with the community. We are dedicated to serving Jesus Christ through holiness and obedience to Him in our daily lives. That Jesus Christ may be glorified!
We’re grateful to carry forward the legacy that began in 1988, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community for many years to come.
