Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Statement

I firmly believe that higher education thrives on diversity. Diverse backgrounds, ideas, cultures, and perspectives contribute to the richness of college classrooms, fostering a vibrant exchange of experiences and viewpoints. These differences play a crucial role in helping students appreciate the value of diversity and recognize the uniqueness of each individual in their class and society.

My teaching experience in graduate macroeconomics labs at UNH has reinforced this belief. In these courses, I had the privilege of working with a diverse group of students hailing from countries such as India, Nigeria, China, Bangladesh, Albania, and the U.S. The interactions among these students enriched the learning environment and led to valuable insights. As reflected in my excellent teaching evaluations, I am confident in my ability to create inclusive and engaging classrooms that celebrate diversity.

In the field of economics, we, as economists, endeavor to comprehend individuals' decisions and their subsequent impact on economic outcomes. It's noteworthy that students from diverse countries, cultures, regions, and religious backgrounds may provide entirely different responses to economic questions. I find these responses to be valuable tools for illustrating how variations in decision-making can lead to distinct economic consequences within a classroom setting.

UNH provides excellent services for students in need of special accommodations. Last year, there was a note-taker in the principles of macroeconomics course that I taught. Even other students can have this note. A couple of students with special accommodations are among the top students in my class. I realize the importance of providing equal opportunity and situations to succeed.

In my classrooms, I intend to foster an environment that warmly welcomes diversity, recognizes uniqueness, and celebrates the contributions of every student. By embracing diversity and supporting inclusion, I aspire to be a mentor who empowers students from all backgrounds of life to pursue their unique goals with confidence.

My personal background, rooted in a small nomadic country like Mongolia, has afforded me a profound appreciation for the diverse ways in which communities can evolve. From the nomadic traditions of my homeland to the bustling metropolises of the world, I have witnessed firsthand the extraordinary tapestry of human experiences. This diverse exposure equips me with a broad perspective that I eagerly share with my students.

In conclusion, I am wholeheartedly committed to the principles of diversity and inclusion, understanding that they are not just ideals to uphold but also powerful catalysts for innovation, growth, and excellence. I am excited by the prospect of contributing to and learning from the diverse community at an university, where I hope to inspire students to embrace their uniqueness and contribute positively to our academic journey together.
